Doodso and rodders 93 you are so wide of the mark that it's scary. I was in the pub on the day in question and I think the bar staff were very restrained and exceedingly polite, considering the appalling behaviour of the "suits" (of which you are probably members) who were rude, obnoxious and behaved like cavemen.

This is a lovely pub, a real gem, and if you guys choose to take your business elsewhere, fantastic news for the rest of us, who won't have to put up with boorish, loud and plainly unwelcome behaviour.

The bar staff are unfailingly polite, even under the severest of conditions (generally caused by people from your office - I have even seen an ignorant member of your team threaten a woman diner for looking at him 'in the wrong way'!).

New customers, please do come to what is undoubtedly the best dining pub in Croydon, and ignore the rantings of these people who would be better off in the Porter and Sorter. The Bunny Chow is spectacular, and the new chef's pancakes are meltocious.

And top marks to the enthusiastic, knowledgeable bar staff, who know their beers and their wines very well, and serve them with style.

The Cricketers, Croydon

Nice, adequate pub let down by the football loving oiks who monopolise the bar and the smokers crowding into the small outside space. Not very relaxing in either area. Well kept beers and a small selection of adequate wines.

The Well House Inn, Mugswell

A really Surrey fave, yet only just down the road from the A217. Great beer, lovely beer garden, good quality home cooked food. If only all pubs could be this relaxing...

Avoid, avoid, avoid. Have been going to the pub quiz for the past couple of months with friends who live locally, and at least one of the group has had food poisoning on the following day EVERY week - the manageress believes this is down to alcohol consumption, but since they are so slow to serve anyone, it's hardly likely. I think the problem is probably one of staff hygiene, because the food is all microwaved - but, of course, they won't even hear that there's a problem.

The food is utterly utterly dreadful - and although they supposedly have guest beers every week, these are generally off, or just being laid down before serving, so they tend not to be available. They even ran out of draft cider two weeks ago.

And avoid the quiz like the plague as well - run by a guy who really is stuck in the 80s (and has some very bigoted views as well). The managers are desparate for business, so the whole thing is drawn out over 3-4 hours (yes really) - if we hadn't been winning every week (it's not hard!) we wouldn't have been going - but in order to be there at a table for an 8.30 start, someone has to get to the pub by 6.30- it's crazy.

Yes, it's much improved from the "rockers" pub that it used to be - but not by much.

A great local, although I agree that sitting outside has lost some of its charm now that the trams and the chavs are thundering past every five minutes...

Ye Olde Red Lion, Cheam

Used to be very special - now it only gets 1 for its building. The rest of it is overrun with the chavs who have obviously thought it's time to "trade up" in Cheam - if drinking alongside Bacardi Breezer loving, Burberry wearing louts is your idea of a good time, then you'll love it, if not, avoid like the plague. A huge shame.

Don't come here! This place is so fabulous, the food so amazing, the drinks great that I don't want it to be mobbed!

Grant and Kathleen, the people in charge, are utterly lovely, and it's the kind of place that deserves to be absolutely packed out every day and every night of the week - providing, of course that I can get a table. Just what Croydon needed - long may it continue to thrive!
