The Dragon Inn, Worcester

Another inner city Pub that was closed. Tried to have a pint of good ale before catching the train 17:00 train from Foregate station. Another experience lost. Had to settle for a pint of Guiness at The Gateway in Reading.

The Cardinals Hat, Worcester

Can't rate this pub as it was closed. Took a day trip to Worcester on a Tuesday and had identified this establishment as a possible lunch stop. it did not open until 7:00pm. Not a lunchtime venue!! Did look interesting from the outside.

Crown Posada, Newcastle

I know it well. Loaded in traditional innercity chracter. Great victorian fittings. If it is realy busy, plan extra time to visit the gents (roomy and good tiles etc.). The beer is always good with at least one or two local brews on tap. Even in the 60's it was a must for a visit before drifting over the road to the Quay Club (long gone) and it hasn't changed a bit.

Whenever I call a friend to let him know I am in town the answer will be "OK, Croon Pasada in an hour". Need I say more.

The Eldon Arms, Reading

I use this Pub regularly and can only say that the beer is always in great condition, allowing for the occassional bottom of the barrel pint. It is a Wadworths house so the range of beers is limited to the brewer. However they have Bishops Tipple (careful how much you consume), 6X, Mild, Henry's IPA (a good session Beer)Old Timer and Summersault (the latter two when in season) Guinness is excellent and lagers (Ugh!) and ciders also available. Good non-fancy pub food is available at lunch times.
It is a local edge of town establishment and could be viewed as a bit clique to the casual visitor, particularly if it is quite, However landlord/lady, the longest serving tenants in Reading, are only to pleased to help if asked.

The Eldon maybe small by some standards but it is a cosy little gem.

Oh! They have a variety of good live music and the "Christmas Bash" has the walls jumping - not to be missed.
