Suburbia, Ayr

Heard it's closing down. That's a pity. Other reviewers got it right. Very classy place. Good food, good wine, nice eye-candy. I've been working abroad and only heard this the other day. Am gutted if it's true because I'd have recommended this place to anybody.

West Kirk, Ayr

Exactly what you'd expect from a typical Wetherspoon's pub. Fantastic on my last visit because they had a selection of ciders and perry on sale. That'll do me. Gets a bit chilly in the winter because the high ceiling doesn't hold in the heat but, no problem, have a few more and you'll be warm enough. Bar staff can be a bit glum now and again.

Above poster got it just about right. Good during the day as well.

West Of The Moon, Ayr

Good place to go for Sunday lunch. Full of clubbies of a night but that's no big deal.

The Tam O'Shanter Inn, Ayr

Excellent place to go in the town centre. The staff are very welcoming and it's very comfortable. Good cider, always a plus in my view, and good snacks. This place has won awards for it's food and it's noticeable. Very friendly during the day and a lovely place to go for an evening. Lots of history about the place too. Great atmosphere.

O'Briens, Ayr

This is a good pub if all you want to do is listen to live music on the nights that they have it. If you want to go out for a nice night with friendly bar staff and good beer forget it.

The Tree House, Ayr

Friendly pub. Bit expensive compared to other pubs in Ayr but, overall, no big deal. Mainly populated by shoppers, businessfolk and students during the day, later in the evening it's one of the places where people meet. Very central, around the corner from bus station and five minutes from train station. Overall, I like it. Cider's good, by all accounts, beer's ok and the food is always good and good portions. If you're in Ayr for the day it's well worth a visit.
