The Old Bridge Inn, Aviemore

Good selection of beers, but as said by previous posters, very pricey with it.

The food was stylishly minimalist, quite a limited menu choice and even more overpriced than the beer.

The atmosphere was nice, but kind of false, its like they are trying so hard for the 'traditional' pub look that its gone too far.

The Fox Inn, Chaddesley Corbett

Nice pub, traditional decor well kept, okay selection of ales, really friendly staff.

16 Nov 2016 11:56

The Hundred House, Bromsgrove

Now a Tesco.

16 Nov 2016 11:55

The Park Gate Inn, Dodford

Looks great from the outside, decent range of beers.

Inside was a bit of a let down after how nice the outside looks, left over restaurant furniture and other odds and ends. Maybe its a work in progress. As it was it was pretty dead and lacking atmosphere which was a shame.

16 Nov 2016 11:55

The Ivy Cottage, Catshill

Yes, closed and is now a shop.

16 Nov 2016 11:51

The Country Girl, Sharpway Gate

Closed - Has since been demolished and rebuilt as flats.

16 Nov 2016 11:51

The Hogshead, Bromsgrove

Still now branded as a Slug And Lettuce. Lack of beer issues continued until they recently admitted defeat and now only sell lager.

16 Nov 2016 11:49

The Turks Head, Bromsgrove

I understand this is now a Thai Restaurant, though it still has the pub branding outside.

16 Nov 2016 11:47

The Sugarbrook, Charford

As said, now closed and a KFC drive through.

16 Nov 2016 11:46

Dog and Pheasant, Bromsgrove

Apparently now permanently closed.

Owned by a developer so I guess we will soon see some generic flats in its place.

16 Nov 2016 11:44

The Grove, Bromsgrove

Not a real ale pub as ales are nearly always off or coming soon.

Odd they spent all the money on what is quite a nice refub and then have the exact same problem supplying beer as when it was called The Rousler and whatever it was branded as before that.

16 Nov 2016 11:43

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Sadly closed again.

Apparently now developers of a nearby housing estate have bought it with plans to demolish it and replace it with a traffic island.

16 Nov 2016 11:41

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

Now changed its name and rebranded for, fourth time is it now?

Only one ale on when we visited. New décor was 'urban industrial' I'd say, bit different anyway and an improvement on the faux pub look of before. TVs everywhere were on at an overly loud volume though so we only had the one and left.

27 Jan 2015 10:35

The Little Ale House, Bromsgrove

Welcome addition for to the town. Always a great selection of real ales and ciders and the place looks a bit more homely on each visit.

Agree with the above that a chalk board listing the ales available would be good, as while its nice to ask at the bar at busy times this isn't really possible. Hoping it continues and that the council allow it to latten its closing times a little.

27 Jan 2015 10:33

The Wishing Well, Bromsgrove

No has been turned into a 'spa centre'
Shame.

27 Jan 2015 10:09

The Bell, Strood

Pretty basic both in atmosphere and drink selection.

8 May 2013 14:15

The Coopers Arms, Rochester

As said, charming pub just off the main street, good selection of beers, only slight let down were the staff, who didn't seem to be very happy to be there.

8 May 2013 14:13

The Pier Hotel, Upnor

Please excuse my previous comment I was reviewing the Ship next door.

The service in the Pier was second to none, we had an enjoyable couple of pints in its slighly eccentric but charming atmosphere. Would certainly go back.

8 May 2013 14:10

The Ship Inn, Lower Upnor

Sign outside announced food served until 8pm "Great we thought." Only while queuing to order we heard a couple in front of us try to order to be told the kitchen was closed today. At least we found out before ordering. Pub looked nice enough but we left to find a meal elsewhere.

8 May 2013 14:07

The Tudor Rose, Upper Upnor

We walked from Rochester and this pub on a sunny Sunday afternoon was well worth the journey.

Nice selection of ales, good service and a fine meal, we were slightly disappointed that they were only serving cold food after our trek but what it was was very enjoyable.

8 May 2013 14:04

The Prince of Wales, Birmingham

Called in last week and got a surprise. No longer a traditional style pub the Prince of Wales has been gentrified to look like any other pub in any other city centre. A shame as the charm of the place was always in its traditional pub style, which you don't get much in Birmingham anymore, or pretty much at all now this place has been done up.

Very good selection of beers were on offer though as always which was good. Place was about half full on a week night. We would have stayed longer but the place was freezing, couldn't take our coats off and saw a couple of people with their hats on too, so we headed off for warmer climbs. Have to say I don't think I'd go out of my way to go there again after doing so last week.

25 Feb 2013 10:54

The Hanbury Turn, Stoke Heath

Open again it seems, called in, nice place, unchanged proper styled pub. Menu looked good so plan to go back.

1 Jan 2013 12:47

The Golden Cross Hotel, Bromsgrove

Still pretty dirty inside. Mid winter and the place is full of midges? Couldn't beleive I saw people ordering food. Bar staff were friendly though and you can't complain about the choice of beers, the prices or the opening hours(You can complain about the dirty glasses though and I did).

1 Jan 2013 12:29

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Decent beers, was packed when we called in. They had a band on, which given the size of the place seems pretty ambitious, but the band were good and clearly popular. Struggled to get served though, only one or two people behind the bar all night and one of those seemed to always serve the newest person to the bar.

1 Jan 2013 12:27

Ye Olde Black Cross, Bromsgrove

ened, seems pretty decent. Had a pint and a meal both good. Was quite busy on a Saturday night, would've stayed longer but for some reason half way through the evening they turned the music up so loud you couldn't speak over it so moved on.

1 Jan 2013 12:24

The Sugarbrook, Charford

I hear this place is going to be a drive through fast food restaurant, shame as theres not much around here for people to go to. Has to be said though its not been up to much for a few years now, shame, good location and layout for a busy pub. missed opportunity.

1 Jan 2013 12:20

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Have gone to call in three times over the festive period and found it closed each time. Seems to be moving toward more cheap resturant and away from being a pub which is a pity. At least the refurbed pub down the hill is normally open though admittedly slightly less pleasant an envoroment to drink in.

1 Jan 2013 12:17

Red Lion, Skegness

Probably the only pub in Skegness town where you can find a pint of ale. Not too bad a Wetherspoons as they go, cheapish prices and okay service. Only slightly disconcerting thing when we visited was the kitchen and bar staff piling all the pubs rubbish and food waste into a big pile in the middle of the main bar thoughout the night.

19 Dec 2012 11:53

Lumley Hotel, Skegness

Interior well maintained, limited selection of drinks, nothing in the way of real ales. Busy though on the Sunday we visited and the staff were efficient in table and drink cleaning. A singer did start up mid afternoon but the place was large enough that you could at least move into the next room if you wanted a chat.

19 Dec 2012 11:51

Dog and Pheasant, Bromsgrove

Seems to be closed in the week now, think it might be still open weekend nights though I'm not interested enough to go there to find out.

14 Nov 2012 20:39

The Birdcage, Stoke Newington

We called in here on a rainy afternoon when we were looking for Sunday lunch and enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks and food so much we stayed all day.

Decent selection of real ales and the food was great - we were a little put off with the wording of the Sunday lunch as it sounded a bit different from the traditional but what came was a typical Sunday lunch, one of the best I've had for a while in fact. The music was pleasant but not too loud and the bar staff were friendly and helpful. Can't recommend it enough.

14 Nov 2012 11:13

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Passed by the other day to see this place back open so called in for a pint. Decors as before inside which was nice, couple of decent beers on and was well staffed with friendly service.

Food looked popular, more value over quality so I hear but the prices looked good. Nice to see the place open again.

15 Oct 2012 21:37

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Now closed it seems, not really a surprise. Hopefully someone can take it over who knows how to run a pub and get it back to the sucess it was a couple of years ago.

2 Jul 2012 15:30

Deers Leap, Worcester

The dear has leapt its last. Now a block of flats stands in its place, sadly.

19 Apr 2012 10:19

The Hanbury Turn, Stoke Heath

Believe this place is now completely closed.

19 Apr 2012 10:18

Ewe and Lamb, Stoke Prior

Hadn't been here for a while and was sorry to see the garden of old has all but disappeared. One of the draws of this place was the open space with views out across the fields. Garden is now more of a fenced in yard, more child friendly I suppose and it seems they are using the land behind for industrial storage. So first impressions were a little disappointing.

Food was good, actually the starter really was fantastic and the main was perfectly acceptable. The beer choice was okay with a couple on offer, served a little on the warm side for my taste and certainly pricey for the area. Place seemed a little unfriendly, not sure if this was the couple of regulars hanging around the bar who seemed to resent people trying to get served or the bar staff themselves. I can't say I'd rush back but then its a pub I've always gone to in the past for the garden and the outdoor area which, now its gone takes away the draw for me.

19 Apr 2012 10:14

The Dodford Inn, Dodford

Someone told me about this place so we made a trip out. What a find. Very nice setting and a truly impressive choice at the bar. Only sorry we had to drive so couldn't try a few more beers.

Style of the place is pretty 'honest' and basic but it was clean, very friendly, both staff and customers, and the food looked good. Planning to go back only wish they ran a mini bus to the town and back so I could enjoy more than the one pint.

19 Apr 2012 10:05

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Like the beers on tap here, always a decent selection well served.

Atmosphere less so, the music/radio they've had on the last two times was too loud for my taste (and pretty awful to boot). When you can't talk over it there is no fun in staying. Garden/outside area is okay though so this has become a fair weather only pub for me now.

19 Apr 2012 10:02

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

Seem to be doing better on keeping a choice of two beers on at least which is an improvement. The music/TV tends to be ramped up a little loud for my taste but you can normally get served without too much of a wait so at that end of town its about the best there is at the moment.

19 Apr 2012 09:59

The Wishing Well, Bromsgrove

Called in the other Saturday. Only had the one beer on (on a Saturday night?)

The garden, which was the main reason to go to the pace in the summer, was in a sorry state, such a shame after all the effort that had been put into it previously, broken glass all over the ground, broken tables, empty glasses on the no broken tables and most of the plants seem to have been decimated.

The place was pretty quiet but I think they still have some bands on in the evening so maybe it gets busier then. Sad to see the place looking so uncared for.

19 Apr 2012 09:57

The Waggon and Horses, Twyford

Friendly barman, good choice of ales and the food, if a little expensive for what it was, was very nice too. Hope to go back again.

9 Apr 2012 23:53

Wee Waif, Charvil

I've been here twice now. Just getting served was a task in itself both times. There seemed to be only one member of staff employed to serve drinks all night. At one stage I noticed a lull at the bar so headed up to buy a round only to find noone at all working. By the time he came back arround ten minutes later there were half a dozen people waiting and one couple gave up and left. It may be a bit cheaper than some pubs in the area but its none too cheerfull when you can't even buy a drink.

9 Apr 2012 23:52

The Bridge Inn, Tibberton

Called in on a canal walk, the next pub in the village the 'speed the plow' was closed and full of scafolding so we ventured into the Bridge.

I'm very glad we did. What a friendly welcome, a decent pint and great food and a very fair price too. Quite a find.

18 Mar 2012 22:51

The Eagle and Sun, Droitwich

Keep getitng caught out by the opening times, they close for a few hours in the middle of the day/early evening and we always seem to be passing then. From these write ups it seems they close later early as well, we may never make it.

18 Mar 2012 22:25

The Pheasant Inn, Linley Brook

Lovely little honest pub off the beaten track.

Good choice of three unusual ales and perfectly friendly service. Was a bit nippy but there was a fire burning if you could get close to it.

Barman seemed perfectly jovial, more so than I'm used to anyway, a pub I'll certainly try to visit again.

29 Jan 2012 18:57

The Duke of Wellington, Minehead

As said, still a well run Wetherspoons which is nice to see given how poorly staffed and cleaned the ones local to me are. Typical good selection of ales, enough trained bar staff so you can get served and a decent overall pub. Nightclub on the premesis too which is a little bizare but at least a talking point.

21 Dec 2011 12:46

The Anchor Hotel and Ship Inn, Porlock Weir

We walked down to The Bottom Ship which, given the approaching darkness, was a bit of a scary walk but very glad we did. Fire was lovely and warm, this was a winters evening, and the bar staff and locals a friendly lot. The food was good and generous and the beer very good indeed. A lovely pub indeed.

21 Dec 2011 12:40

The Royal Oak, Porlock

Wasn't listed on our local map but this was the first pub we came across in Porlock. A decent selection off beers and the place was pretty busy even with it being a winters afternoon.

21 Dec 2011 12:38

The Ship Inn Hotel, Porlock

Visited on a wintery saturday, the place was quite empty apart from a couple of people at the bar and the whole feeling wasn't that friendly. Good beer though and a pleasent enough pub. We headed off after a pint and ended up at their sister pub the Bottom Ship at Porlock Weir, a more friendly pub I've yet to find. All in the timeing I suppose.

21 Dec 2011 12:37

The Dog Inn, Harvington

Having abandoned the dog for a while, after dwindling portions and being fed up with waiting to get served at the bar we returned to try it once again. We won't be going back.

Waited 20 minutes to buy a drink, again only one member of staff serving drinks even though the pub seems to employ dozens of people to deliver food and collect plates. Then we ordered out meal, after another long wait for 'the host'. It seems as well as one barman the pub also now only has one person to take orders as well. We were told there was a 30 minute wait when we ordered. An hour and ten minutes later our food arrived, well, some of it, one order was wrong and one of our group had to wait a further 15 minutes. But the waiting wasn't over, when it came time to leave we asked for the bill, the obviously overworked host told us she'd be with us in 30 seconds. About ten minutes later the bill arrived.

The food might be cheap on their 2 for 1 offer and for the money it was okay value. But we spent most of our night either queuing for a drink or else wondering if our food was ever going to arrive which isn't why you go out. It doesn't take a genius to see the place needs more staff.

1 Sep 2011 23:23

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Choice of Four decent beers in the Red Lion this evening, most impresive. well run with friendly service and fair prices. Currently the best pub in the town centre I'd say.

16 Jul 2011 23:04

The Doll's House, Oldbury

I was going to go to a music show here but their facebook page scared me off. So I've no idea what the place is like.

12 Jul 2011 12:40

The Ewe and Lamb, Bromsgrove

Just to add, reading the other reviews, I also found the bar staff pretty sullen, seems if they 'know' you they will server you and chat but if you are just passing through forget it.

3 Jul 2011 00:44

The Ewe and Lamb, Bromsgrove

Called in tonight. Drank and ate. I have to say the food was very good and on point with the prices. however the beer, sevice and toilets were less so.

I'd certainly call back to eat but the prices for a drink mean I wouldn't stay after. That said, there were plenty ove overdressed locals around the bar so it seems its not just about the price of the beer at this place.

3 Jul 2011 00:42

Watermill, Kidderminster

Awfull lot of these 2 for the Price of 1 Marstons pubs in the area. Most of them are quite nice though they do lack atmosphere. At least the building gives this place a bit of individuality.

Staff were very welcoming, i'm not used to such friendly service here in the UK. The beer was good and no complaints about the food either which was very good value at its 2 for 1 price.

28 Jun 2011 13:20

The Crooked House, Gornal Wood

Called in a few weeks ago. We wnated to eat but apparently they were too busy to seat us, even though the resturant was near empty. A very strangely run place to be sure.

Seems they've addressed the plastic glass situation though, by chaotically taking a pound deposit on each glass. Due to there not being enough staff in the place to man the bar this means a long que to get served and then another long que when its time to leave. Have they not heard of glass collectors at this pub?

Can't say I'll bother going back.

28 Jun 2011 13:18

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Called in last week following a recent refurbishment of both the inside and outside of the pub. Both are much improved on how they were. The trend for pine following the last refit took a lot of the atmosphere out of the pace and made it seem to empty and quiet. Its now darker inside but more intimate.

Was a bit dissapointed at the choice of beers, three ales on, which was good, but the pub now seems to be a Marstons pub and as such no longer seems to be selling local ales but only national ones. Still, was a very nice pint all the same.

Given the friendly service and the fact no other pub on the high street seems bothered about its customers I'll certainly be returning.

22 Jun 2011 09:34

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Was surprised to call in on a weekend evening and find this place nearly empty. Used to be you could get a seat in there on a Saturday night.

The beer was good as always though, if very overpriced.

26 May 2011 11:09

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Called in for some food recently and sadly it was really down on its previous high standards, average at best and quite small portions too. There was only ourselves and one other group eating, I saw them have to send two meals back, the empty pub meant the atmoshpere was lacking as well.

There was a long wait at the bar to get served every time, despite the pub being empty, as there was only one person working in the whole place. The beer however was still good if, like the food, quite pricey . It seems a real change from 6/9 months ago when you had to book to get a table and could never get to the bar for customers. I can only guess the fact its one of the dearest pubs in the town to drink in and if the food isn't great people aren't going to pay over the odds to visit it.

29 Apr 2011 10:01

The Ewe and Lamb, Bromsgrove

Seems a popular place, I'd not been for a year or so and was disappointed to see the garden. Was once was open views out across several miles of Worcestershire, and the main reason we visit the pub, is now a fenced in yard. Everyone was dressed in their Sunday best, when I eventually got served the beer was fine, overpriced for the area but fine. Inside the pub was quite stuffy with the smell of cooking so the only option was to sit outside and look at their fence. A real shame. Given the lack of any view we moved on up the road to the Handbury turn where the staff were much friendlier and the pub less stuffy.

22 Apr 2011 18:50

The Bell, Pensax

Lovely pub with fantasic views from the rear garden and a nice choice of ales, welcoming, friendly bar staff too, what cold be better?

8 Apr 2011 21:11

The Old Comical, Sandown

Not been in a pub quite so dilapidated as this for some time. lights broken and people so drunk they couldn't stand. Grim.

6 Apr 2011 10:41

The Castle, Sandown

Great choice of real ales and freindly bar staff, when we arrived we discovered there was a beer festival on in the back bar/room of the pub too, a real find. Only downside of my visit was treading in some dogdoodoo in the courtyard on my way to get a pint.

6 Apr 2011 10:39

Scruffy Jacks, Sandown

Called in to Scruffy Jacks in February to find lovely friendly bar staff and a great view of the bay. Also one of the cheapest pubs we visited on the island. Not much choice of ales and the decor was a bit dated, but its certainly a place I'd go back to all the same.

6 Apr 2011 10:36

The Navigation Inn, Kingswinford

Called in for a pint and some food. While the place was quite basic in decor it seemed clean enough, the real ale was good and the food was basic but tasty and well portioned. I'd hapily go back again.

31 Mar 2011 21:46

The Hogshead, Bromsgrove

Sun was out so we thought we'd have a beer in the garden at Bromsgroves Slug and Lettuce. All three real ales were off, as was the John Smiths. The bar staff were surpised to find this out and didn't seem to know why. **** up in a brewery comes to mind.

23 Mar 2011 10:21

The Wishing Well, Bromsgrove

New owners apparently, I wish them well. However this was a pub for music and real ale lovers, no TVs/Football ect and now it seems they are trying to please everyone. Skipped the place tonight as couldn't hear myself speak over the football. Would've thought there were enough pubs catering for this in bromsgrove but maybe not. Shame.

26 Feb 2011 21:41

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

Nice refit, but they never seem to have any beers on, despite displaying a wide range. I'd had this problem before Christmas and gave up on the place, tried it again today and just the same, the staff are all miserable as sin and/or confused with things, its a real shame. How difficult is is if you are a pub to serve and sell the beers you advertise as available?

26 Feb 2011 21:38

The Wishing Well, Bromsgrove

Seems to be closed in the daytimes again.

Used to do a roaring trade on the weekends with live bands and a good choice of real ales. Seems a lot quieter of late.

5 Jan 2011 11:25

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

Called in twice, to the Grapevine as it is now, over the last two weeks. Both times no ales on at all! A real shame to see all that investment in a pubs decor and then to fail at selling beer.

5 Jan 2011 11:21

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

I think the last poster will find the glass in the car park is from the glass recycling bins there rather than car crime.

If he'd called into the place three or four years ago he would see the change for the good the place went through when it was re opened last year.

That said there was litte choice on the beer front when I called in at the weekend, a dissapointment as the pub normally has a good choice of three or more real ales. There was also quite loud music on in the afternoon which wasn't needed and wasn't on the last time I called in.

I don't know if they are still serving food as there was no sign of it nor any menus. A shame as the food was very good there the last time I visted too.

5 Jan 2011 11:18

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

After getting quite excited at a good range of real ales in a pleasant environment with firendly staff on the High Street recent weeks have seen the selection available to be pretty sparse with only a choice of one or two beers.

This weekend they had no ales on at all when we called in. Very disappointing to see so much effort and money spent on the recent refit only to be unable to deliver beer to their customers.

13 Dec 2010 10:53

Grain Barge, Bristol

Enjoyable place to visit with a decent range of beers. We stayed all night in the end so it must've had sometihng going for it.

22 Nov 2010 13:07

The Rose of Denmark, Bristol

Decent choice of beers, friendly staff and a lovely roaring fire. Bit worried about all the talk(and there was a lot) about where to place the TVs. Was nice to be in a pub without one.

22 Nov 2010 13:06

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

Called in this week and a couple of decent beers on tap, well priced too. Might actually end up being the best boozer ont he High Street.

18 Nov 2010 11:30

The Hogshead, Bromsgrove

Called in on a Tuesday night and the place was completly empty, with no aptmoshphere and it was freezing to boot. no wonder it was empty.

18 Nov 2010 11:27

The Bell, Bristol

Hadn't been back here for a couple of years. Was a decent 'basic' boozer back then with a friendly crowd. Not too much has changed, seems a little rougher round the edges and more threadbare than I remember. Was busy for sure.

15 Nov 2010 10:50

The Bag O' Nails, Bristol

Sorry to find this place closed and boarded up when I went back to Bristol this year. Was a lovely place with a lot of character a few years back.

15 Nov 2010 10:46

The Old Wharf, Birmingham

Was there last weekend. Was a good local band on, the Guinness tasted of rasbery though which was a little odd, best stick to the lager in future I think.

26 Oct 2010 13:49

Live and Let Live, Neen Sollars

Lovely pub, very nice pint of real ale. As said, does seem to keep odd hours though, was closed the last time I went on a weekend.

20 Oct 2010 12:21

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Seems to have changed hands since I was last there.

A nice range and choice of beers still but the TVs were all on showing afternoon daytime tv with the sound on loud, If I wanted to watch rubbish television I would stay at home and watch it. We went outside to drink in the end.

20 Oct 2010 12:19

The Golden Cross Hotel, Bromsgrove

I was in this place on a sunday afternoon, a nice place for a quiet pint you might think. Oh no, a large group of drunk men in the corner were singing and shouting all afternoon, people came in and left straight away. They then started brawling with one another. The only memeber of staff who went over to them and asked them to keep quiet was a young female glass collector.

I finished my drink and left. I don't know who is in charge of this place, actually there never seems to be anyone running it when i've been in which is probably the problem.

20 Oct 2010 12:15

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

Went to call in this week and the place was closed. Looked like it was still trading. Dissapointing.

20 Oct 2010 12:11

The Rousler, Bromsgrove

Rebranded after a year or so to 'The Grapevine'
Interior a little brighter than before, though basically the same. New rooftop terrace added which is very nice. Not much choice on the beer front and didn't try the food after being unimpressed in the past.

22 Sep 2010 10:21

Ye Olde Black Cross, Bromsgrove

Nice garden, nice to see its been trimmed a bit of late though the dozen or so 'No eating Chips signs are a bit OTT.
Beer is generaly okay(pint I had last week tasted a bit odd) with a choice of two or three real ales. Agree its a pub that doesn't know what it is or who its catering for. Also service is sometimes lacking, ordered a coffee, 'we'll bring it out for you' ten mintes later, no drink, had to be chased up twice.

22 Sep 2010 10:18

The Guild, Bromsgrove

Staff friendly, not much choice on the beer front and the place smelt heavily of vinegar and food. Quite a modern building, they have some local imagery on the walls in an attempt to giver it some sense of place but you could be in any pub built in the last couple of years at the size of a main road/motorway.

More of a place to take your small children and have a quick meal than a pub it seems, has a wacky warehouse style playroom. Child friendly more than Beer friendly.

18 Aug 2010 10:50

The Stag, Red Hill

Had a group booking at the Stag yesterday. Staff were all polite to a fault, quite friendly, nice atmosphere in the place.

The food wasn't overly expensive, the beer was good. There were a variety of areas to sit, with some free acoustic music just beginning as we left. Realy couldn't fault the place.

Dog in the Lane, Astley

We stoped off at the dog in the Lane in order to meet up with friends, we only had a quick drink but the service was very friendly and the drinks tasty. We'd cetainly go back.

The Black Horse, Great Linford

Lovely looking pub in an interestng setting.

Sadly I can't comment on the food as at 8pm on a Friday night they had apparently ran out due to a rush. Speaking of rushing, loads of staff runing back and forth however no-one serving at the bars and glasses/messy tables all over.

Even when we did finaly get served at the bar the staff seemed unable to find things and in near panic. Those on our table who had ordered their drinks from the table faired even worse as after wainting half an hour and asking several staff they had to go to the bar themselves, where they were told their order was just being done. When it arrived one of the drinks was wrong and two were missing.

Its a nice setting but I'm not sure I'll go back, maybe on a tuesday afternoon when its less busy and then they will maybe be able to cope.

The Crooked House, Gornal Wood

Called in today having hear of this pub many times. Was shocked to be served a beer in very flimsy cheap plastic cup, not how I like to drink real ale. I don't think I'll be going back but it is a very interesting building.

Dog and Pheasant, Bromsgrove

Heavily 'refurbished' a couple of years ago which involved removing all trace of character from the old pub and replacing it with blank walls. It reminds me of one of those hotel bars you find in basements on the continent. Poor selection of beers, mostly a larger and alcopop pub. Normally quite dead on week nights other than a few teenagers. Only times I have been in when its busy is on weekends when it gets the overspill from the night club across the street.

The Dog Inn, Harvington

Have had several meals in the Dog Inn over recent weeks. Food is always of a good standard. The two meals for 10 offer makes the food good value for money though if your party is of an odd number one person will be paying over the odds for what they get.

Service staff are always friendly and there are genrally 2 or 3 real ales on tap.

Only thing I would say is the bar is often understaffed during busy periods which can be a little frustrating.

10 Jun 2010 09:45

The Whittington Inn, Whittington

Called in for a meal on a Wednesday night. Pub was full and surprisinly busy, sadly there was a 2 hour wait for tables so we went elsewhere. Clearly a very popular pub.

The Swan With Two Nicks, Worcester

Great pub, good choice of Ales, Friendly staff, just mind your head on that step.

Strawberry Fields, Evesham

Surprised at the low rating for this place given how busy it always in. I must say its not really my kind of pub but the must be doing something right. Cheap two for one meals and all the basics covered on the drink front. It is a 'family' pub though so expect lots of children running about the place - its not a pub to go to for a quiet pint.

Ye Olde Red Horse, Evesham

Seems a nice pub, was quiet when we called in on an afternoon but good beers and friendly staff, and some unique decor, made the visit well worthwhile.

22 Mar 2010 19:59

The Vauxhall Inn, Evesham

We called in for a pint on a Saturday afternoon. It looks like the outside has recently been painted however inside was in dire need of a clean and an update. There we're several TVs on showing different football matches all with the volume on high - so it wasn't the place to go for a beer and a chat, a good pub if you like the football on a Saturday afternoon I guess.

The tables we're all sticky and we had to move as the window seats were very uncomfortable. I can't say I'd go back.

The Sugarbrook, Charford

Basic.

30 Dec 2009 12:59

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Not sure the pine makeover was a good idea. Called in over christmas though and a very good range of ales with friendly bar staff. Nice to see one proper pub left in the high street.

The Hairy Dog, Minehead

Quite rowdy and a fair amount of blue language shouted about the place, it was late on a friday afternoon though. busy and the food wasn't bad.

30 Dec 2009 12:57

Old Ship Aground, Minehead

Very friendly 'real' pub. Nice real fire on a sunday. make sure I call back whenever I'm in town for the good range of real ales.

30 Dec 2009 12:56

Hobby Horse Inn, Minehead

Scary pub. Worried I might go to the toilet and 'dissapear' Beer was okay though - looks nice from outside.

30 Dec 2009 12:55

The Duke of Wellington, Minehead

If only all wetherspoons could be like this. Friendly barstaff, clean, good range of ales and a pleasent bunch of customers, puts my local one to shame.

Food was fine too, as ever, cheap but cheerfull. Certainly an improvment on the previous place.

30 Dec 2009 12:54

The Hogshead, Bromsgrove

As stated now called the Slug and Lettuce. Popular in the day time with mums with prams. Been in three times this winter and its been freezing in there every time. If you are going to charge over the odds for a beer then how about some comfortable seating and central heating?

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

I called in to the recently re-opened Greyhound pub on Rock Hill and was very impressed with the changes.

While the 'look' of the pub isn't that traditional and does seem a tad out of place in its current setting, it has to be said its probably a change for the better. Well decorated, clean - nice change there - and very busy - though this may be due to people trying it out, given it was the first weekend of opening.

Most importantly, for me, the pub now features a couple of very tasty Real Ales on tap. Service was very friendly and the food we ordered really was superb and I'll certainly be calling back to try more.

I wish them all the best and hope they can keep up the standards and atmosphere they've opened with.

30 Nov 2009 11:18

The Crabmill Inn, Bromsgrove

Last time I was in here there had been a half hearted atempt to decorate but it only made the place look more shabby. Despite this its a nice 'honest' pub, best seen when busy of a weekend evening.

11 Nov 2009 11:58

The Ewe and Lamb, Bromsgrove

Not closed at all, website is here, eweandlambbromsgrove.com.

Changed its name back to the Ewe and Lamb from Epic. Still a pub more interested in food than drink.

Staff always polite and usualy an ale or two on tap. Busy at weekends with the middle aged crowd.

11 Nov 2009 11:54

The Ladybird Inn, Aston Fields

Always busy and always has a couple of good ales on.

slightly lacking in aptmosphere somehow and it closes before the last train on a weekend - which is saying something as the trains don't run late in this town.

11 Nov 2009 11:07

The Hundred House, Bromsgrove

Yes, now no longer a pub unfortunately.

11 Nov 2009 11:05

The Golden Cross Hotel, Bromsgrove

I remember when this place opened it was a very nice pub.

Sadly it seems no one has any interest in managing it any more. No one ever seems in charge there, service is awful.

They have a good selection of beers and ales, however the place seems very dirty inside and frequently smells unpleasant.

Recently I've seen a staff member in overalls jump into the waste bin to squash it down then return to the kitchen and a 'customer' walk outside to the high street at four in the afternoon, urinate against the pubs front door, then return to his drink. Enough said.

11 Nov 2009 08:55

The Hogshead, Bromsgrove

Typical chain pub. Not much soul but the staff are freindly and the foods decent. Never much choice on the real ale front, if any, and weekend nights there are best avoided.

11 Nov 2009 08:51

The Greyhound Inn, Bromsgrove

This pub has been closed for the last year but is about to reopen.

I'm none too keen on the dirty brown colour its been painted but its nice to see some investment in what could be a nice pub.

Always used to be full young mums with push chairs and toddlers running amock in the place.

It will be intresting to see what kind of pub its going to be now.

11 Nov 2009 08:50

The Turks Head, Bromsgrove

Don't know how this place stays open. Always a couple of people in the bar and probably twice that number in the evening but never more.

Had a nice 'real' fire but not much choice in the ale department, stick to ordering lager I would say - I ordered a g&t once and received a warm gin, warm tonic, no slice and no ice - they never have ice in my experience.

Recently has been sliced in half so now quite small. The rear of the building being converted into a series of resturants the latest being an Indian resturant which does boast a very nice outdoor decked area.

11 Nov 2009 08:46

The Red Lion, Bromsgrove

Haven't been inside over the last few months. Was thae last 'true' pub in Bromsgrove.

Was a shame when they decked out the inside in pine and added tvs, that lost it some of its character. Always has had a good selection of ales in the past.
