The Royal Standard of England, Beaconsfield

Plenty of parking space for tourists, plenty of beers at tourist prices. As a pub serving real ale it is fine. If you are hoping for a proper English pub experience I would suggest the White Horse in Hedgerley or the Royal Standard in Wooburn common.

The Bree Louise, Euston

I was really excited about visiting this pub and really wanted to like it. When I got there I thought I was in heaven, being a dark beer fan they had three to choose from on gravity dispense so I choose a Purple Moose Dark Side of the Moose. I then watched the girl behind the bar lift up the cask to pour the dregs out and fill the glass. I assumed she was going to pour it away - she served it to me. Being a Friday night it had clearly been sat there since last weekend and it was awful. I returned it and swapped it for a Cambridge Black Dog. This was actually even worse, I gave it back again saying sorry but this is totally flat and bland tasting to which I was told "this is what it should taste like". She asked her 'manager' and in fairness to him he swapped it for me. This time I went for Skinners Betty Stoggs which was worse than the two beers I had perviously. I asked my friend to take it back as I was too embarrased. I then had a Rebellion Blonde which was lovely, but I live two miles from the brewery and can get it anytime when in season.

I am not fussy and I rarely return beers as I can appreciate that someone has to have the last pint in the cask etc, but I found the bar staff pretty rude and the beer was in poor, poor condition. A real shame because the choice is so good. I am no fan of the CAMRA pricing policy either. Why should I pay 30p over the odds so someone else can pay 20p under?

The Partridge, Partridge Green

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, a day after it re-opened. It is a Dark Star pub so plenty of Dark Star beers of course plus a couple of other dark beers. Spacious and has a very new feeling to it. Just around the corner from the brewery, it is Dark Star heaven.

The Royal Oak, Rusper

Visited on a Saturday lunch in Febuary. Stunning place, great beer choice, Dark Star, Sarah Hughes, Surrey Hills plus others. Very nice people and was made to feel very welcome.

Harte and Magpies Pub, Coleshill

Couldn't really detect any atsmosphere in here. Rebellion beer was ok, but you can't go wrong with it. The small coke my friend had must have come in at nearer 2 assuming my beer wasn't over 4. Food looked expensive. Can't think of any reason why I would want to go back here again - not my idea of a pub.

The White Hart, Beaconsfield

Popped in here on a Friday night with no expectations. You can't argue with Bitter n Twisted and Doom Bar on pump, both at 2.60. The former in 10/10 condition. Roomy and comfortable with big tables so ideal for bigger groups. Obviously a food place but who cares, was there for the beer.

The Old White Swan, Beaconsfield

A much improved pub. Quick friendly service, clean. Three real ales on offer which is all you need if they are a balanced choice - which they were. Best pub in Beaconsfield.
