The Skinners Arms, Kings Cross

Best pub I've found if you've got an hour or so to kill wilst waiting for your train at King's Cross or St Pancras - about 5 mins walk (max) from each.

Only two Greene King ales on (IPA & Abbot) but both very well kept.

It's safe, quiet, airy and a welcoming place to while away an hour with a crossword and a couple of pints before your train arrives.

The Blue Flame Inn, Nailsea

When Big Pete confidently predicted that "you'll never have been in a pub like this in your life" I was a bit dubious. But he's right. This is just like stepping back in time fifty years. The building (which is like an old house) probably hasn't had any attention since then, so it's on the run-down side, but this only serves to give it more charm. Excellent selection of garavity-fed real ale.

It's a bit like a marmite pub - like it or hate it. I love it!

The Battleaxes, Wraxhall

Don't be sucked in my the nice architecture outside. It's a food pub with no decent beers/ciders. Food OK though.

It's one of those pubs which could be great, but promises more than it delivers.

The Old Barn, Wraxall

Brilliant little pub. Four gravity-fed real ales, four ciders and a wide selection of wine by the glass.

It is - literally - an old barn with a bar across one end. The cobwebs from its former life are still in place, so don't expect sprkly clean. Having said that, the atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and great - expecially in summer when you can sit outside alongside the stream.

The Glass House, Nailsea

DickStilton's comment says it all.

No proper beer. Agressive locals. Avoid!

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

The best pub in Sheffield by a country mile. Don't be put off by mammoth walk through a grotty area of the city, once you get there it's seriously well worth the effort!

The Boat Inn, Doncaster

Food pub. Nowhere to drink. Beer of an average standard and very overpriced for the area (but food OK and good selection of wine!)

The Mitre, Paddington

Dark. Not terribly welcoming. A few local drunks. A few tourists. Not a lot else.

The Archery Tavern, Bayswater

This is the best pub in London - but don't tell anyone else!

An excellent, welcoming local with the best pint of Badger in the country. Always friendly. Food OK. As Andy says, a good place for a quiet game of darts. Sit outside and watch the world go by in summer. I make an effort to visit every time I go to London.

Quite simply a most marvellous pub.

The Tut 'N' Shive, Doncaster

The Tut is a young persons' pub.

Tries valiently to have decent real ale. Good atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

The Leopard, Doncaster

Poor pub, frequented by unfriendly locals and loud bands.

Decent beer (sometimes) proves its redeeming feature.

The Railway Tavern, Carshalton

Fantastic pub. Good atmosphere. Generally friendly locals. Pleasant Landlord who obviously takes care of his beer.

This is the best pint of Pride you will drink within a five mile radius.

If you love your beer and want a nice quiet pint in a nice quiet pub, go here!
