The Falcon, Clapham Junction

Claims to have the longest continuous bar in Britain, and still retains a faintly Victorian atmosphere. Also seems to be a favourite of locals smoking foul-smelling roll-ups, but I don't want to appear harsh - it's fine enough for a pint or two...

Teuchters, Edinburgh

Nice place - get there early for the rugby though! Friendly staff, decent beer.

The Old Coffee House, Soho

Despite being slap bang in the middle of Soho, this pub can sometimes get overlooked. Not all the time, but sometimes, even on a Friday night, it just seems to get passing trade, with no real sense of filling up. That, of course, is a good thing - and this old-fashioned boozer will reward you popping in. The walls are full of pictures, the staff are prompt, and the Guinness is good. Quality...

Yates's, Leamington Spa

It's a Yates's Wine Lodge - what more to say? Go to a proper pub...

The Star and Garter, Leamington Spa

A personal favourite from my days at Mid-Warks College, but never as busy as it once was - the larger choice in town has seen to that. Still, if you want a quietish pint with a decent jukebox, here's the place

The Jug and Jester, Leamington Spa

A good last stop if you've been trawling Leamington's pubs - a decent pint and the staff are good. The problem is you've got a long walk home if you live north of the Parade...

Cuba, Leamington Spa

Leamington's trendy types at last have somewhere to pose - which means, for those of us who like a proper boozer, it's way down the list. It's decent enough though - the beer's OK if a little pricey, but the service is good, and as already mentioned, the youth club aspect is minimal.

The Benjamin Satchwell, Leamington Spa

A long, thin Wetherspoons (it's two shops knocked together), and not the most awe inspiring place in town. Typical Wetherspoons - ie there's better elsewhere

The Calthorpe Arms, Holborn

Beer's very good, food's passable - a fine old boozer, with fine old regular clientele to match!

Blue Lion, Holborn

An old favourite of mine, but the staff are appallingly slow, and seem to revel in getting slower the busier the place gets - and it can get very busy, especially on Thursday and Friday evenings when the local office workers turn up. Does have one advantage - a 1am licence at the back end of the week should ensure you've somewhere to go when you get a second (or third) wind...

The Yorkshire Grey , Holborn

Another recent refurbishment, but completely for the better. It gets a bit busy early in evening (plenty of lawyers and office workers knocking about), but the efficient staff shouldn't keep you waiting too long. Mainly standard booze at the bar, but the draught San Miguel is worth it, and they do a range of (pretty pricey, to be fair) cocktails.

The Assembly House, Kentish Town

Large pub, so handy for meeting mates before gigs at the Forum. This has a flip side of course - prepare yourself with a hefty wait at the bar up to about 8pm...

The Pineapple, Kentish Town

Nice pub, hidden away from the masses, even on busy nights with gigs at the Forum. Friendly staff, good 'old-fashioned' atmosphere, and the food was great

O'Neills, Muswell Hill

Enormous converted church - look up at the ceiling and say hello to the large toucan. Can get pretty crowded, but a good place for sport (especially the rugby) - usual fare of Guinness and lagers at the bar

The Hill Restaurant and Bar, Muswell Hill

Cleaned up a bit recently with a refurb - still resmbles a youth club most of the time however...
