I told Lee about this! One of the few pubs Ron Pattinson's website doesn't list. My favourite in Prague. Don't do what my mate did - borrowed toilet key and returned his HOTEL key to bar. Back by tram next morning 1100 - any excuse! Groups might try a 'giraffe', a 4.5 litre glass cylinder with a tap, stands about 4 feet tall on your table and you serve yourself. Menu in English is available. The beers speak for themselves, especially the dark.

I'm new to this game but how did 29 people average 6.6 out of 10? I won't give a 10 to anything, but agree with previous judges, this must be near. Interesting that they're not afraid to recommend brilliant competitors nearby, too (eg Alexandra). Won't bore you with all the detail you already know from above; just want to say staff interest and knowledge in the beers was exemplary.

The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich

Jewel in crown of my first Norwich visit and going back tomorrow. Real "local" with belting beer and (unobtrusive) meals & snacks, great staff, best jukebox in world, a guv'nor who's rowing across the Atlantic and a football-playing dog.
