Brave New World, Surbiton

Have been drinking in the Bun Shop/Brave New World for the past 20 odd years and after all that time have now been barred by the drunken supposed owner!! I was talking to a friend when she passed and said to my friend "Here now!" pointing to anther part of the bar! I said "How rude, I'm in the middle of a conversation" she repled "If you don't like it, then F**k off annd find somewhere else to drink!!" I confronted her and all she had to say was "Pick on someone your own sex" Bit difficult unless she's transgender!!!

What's this I her about Brian the goose becoming a regular??

The Albion, Barnsbury

Had a pleasant visit her on a Friday (Early) lunchtime. Barmaids excellent and couldn't do enough to help. Had a nice couple of pints of Ringwood whilst sitting in the sun filled garden. A pint was nearing the 4 mark, but what do you expect in the Islington area with it's Millionaire neighbours?

The Craft Beer Co, City of London

Nice range of ales and about the usual price for the area, but can't see what all the fuss is about!

The Surbiton Flyer, Surbiton

What a stuck up hole!! Went in there with my shopping and asked for a pint of Pride, they wanted 3.35 off me for it! I said to the Barman" (As polite as he was) "I want a pint, not shares in the company!!" This is modern day Surbiton and not the days of Felicity Kendall (Great arse!) and Margot Leadbetter! The days of The Good Life Have gone, why do Company's have to play on a place name to get their Bucks? I'd ahte to ask for a bottle of Champagne as they'd probably ask which County I owned before selling it to me!

Hello again Foghorn.....You following me? Don't tell me your a gooner?

The Greyhound, Rotherfield Peppard

Went there today for lunch. It is run by Anthony Worrall Thompson who is currently on holiday. I must say that he has trained his chefs very well. Six of us for lunch and not one complaint from anyone.

Mr Foghorn, very apt name! I am actually a Londoner born and bred and not a northern-no-brains as you put it. I note your comments of "getting off your tits" just about sums up what you believe a visit to a pub is all about! Get a life, Foghead!

Wellesley, Waterloo

Popped in here to wait for my mate MUFC to arrive befor epartaking of a pub crawl in the City. Opted for the Pride which was a mistake, I could have asked for a portion of chips to go with the pint of vinegar but decided to raise the point with the barmaid who quite happily changed it for me to a pint of Speckled Hen. Would only pop in jere if I was early for a train and had time to kill.

Visited as part of a pub crawl yesterday with my mate MUFC. Nice pub with a good drop of Bombadier. Very polite staff. I actually at one point thought I heard a fellow customer speaking English! MUFC had the steak and virtually licked the plate clean, although he said, not the best steak he's had but it filled a hole!

The Counting House, Bank

Pleasant pub and the barstaff most welcoming, most of whom were rather pretty blonde girls. Had a pint of Pride (As stated below - 3.40), looked at the menu, then put it down again after seeing the prices, I fancied something to eat, not shares in the company!

The Bunch of Grapes Inn, City of London

Agree with rpadam. It was full of the red braces brigade spending their bonuses supplied by the likes of us the tax payer! Had one pint of Adnams ordinary then left. Won't be back!

The Swan, Bank

Visted yesterday as a part of a mini pub crawl with a mate. Initially thought twice about going in as the downstairs bar is so thin and narrow. Glad we did go in, the London Pride was in excellent condition. What made it more inviting was the great Spanish bloke behaind the bar. If we weren't on a pub crawl, we could have stayed there all day talking with him about the world cup and football in general. Will go back to see if the Spanish Guy is in there for some more tactical discussions on the abilities of certain world cup "Stars?"

The Crosse Keys, Bank

Visited yesterday with a mate at about 11am. We were the only people in there which isn't suprising considering that it's in the middle of the financial district of town. Massive place with a brilliant selection of ales. The tv screen is massive, which must have been great for the world cup coverage! Very pleasant & polite bar staff. The only downside, and it must be a trait of JDs everywhere was that it was so dark on such a sunny day.

The Waggon and Horses, Surbiton

Hi Fish,

Don't get me wrong, I think it's a lovely pub and was even more popular back in Joe Reilly's day, but I don't dwell in the past. I do enjoy an occasional pint in there on the way home if I'm working in Kingston, for a relaxing, hassle & Chav free atmosphere, but hey, the most you should pay for a pint in the Surbiton area is about 2.80-3.00. The other most expensive pub in Surbiton is the Victoria and guess what? Yes it's a Young's pub. I like to relax over a pint, but not to have to check my pocket to see if I've got enough for another pint. Hehe!

The Waggon and Horses, Surbiton

Popped in yesterday to watch the opening game of the World Cup as it had advertised a 110" screen! Large screen I admit but 110"?? It is HD and the picture quality is good apart from the reflection of passing cars flashing across the screen every 5 seconds. Have they considered maybe drawing the curtains? If you do decide to visit, remortgage your house first, a pint of Hook Norton Ale....3.30!!!!!!!!! I though I asked for a pint, not shares in the company!!

The Black Prince, New Haw

Went to visit a friend who lives about 30 seconds away from this pub. Went to this establishment and was made very welcome by the friendly bar staff. Part of the "Fixtures & fittings" is Old Tommy who has his place at the bar. Had a few pints of Wells Bombadier which was excellent. Must visit my friend more often!!!

The Woburn Arms, Addlestone

Went in after watching some Sunday morning football in the sports club next door and needed refreshment. (Thirsty work "Watching footbal!!"). Very disappointed as the only ale available was John Smiths (Ale??) and Courage Best ("Best" that they can do!!). Decided on the Courage which it seemed was tapped into the nearest vinegar bottle!!! Yek! Won't be back.

Bosco Lounge Bar, Surbiton

Where does daveb975 drink, Claridges? I asked for a pint of bitter and was informed that they only sell bottled bitter. Fair enough I thought and was shown a bottle of Abbotts Ale. "How much is that then Barman?" I enquired. He checked on the till and stated 4.05!!!! I Left!! Enough said?

The Bear and Staff, Leicester Square

Visited this Pub today with my Mum, Dad & my 10 year old Daughter, Meg. A fine couple of pints of Sharp's Doombar for Me & Dad. Went upstairs to the small but cosy restaurant section. Was made most welcome by the Deputy Manageress. Had the two meals for a tenner option, Dad had the fish & chips and I had the Gammon steak & eggs. Mum partook of the speciality Sausage & mash and Meg had the Scampi. We were all stuffed at the end, couldn't fit in the delicious sounding puddings we were offered. We obviously hit it at the right time, especially as it is half term. Will Definately visit again when in the vicinity.

The Pelican, Addlestone

Nice location next to the canal, had a nice pint of ale whilst watching the world go by on the water. Luckily friends of mine live just 5 minutes walk away so not too far to stagger!

The Holly Tree, Addlestone

Went in to try this place on a Saturday afternoon. Had a pint of Waggledance......Rank!! Only got grunted at by barman. Think I'll stay well clear.

Waggon and Horses, Addlestone

This Pub was recommended by a friend so decided to pop in for a pint with my mate and our respective daughters. So glad it was recommended to us. Lovely pub with good ale and ever so friendly bar staff. Got chatting to Becky the Bar Manager who was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Lovely secluded garden at the rear for a nice relaxing paper reading and ale swilling session. Will be back when next in the area.

Brave New World, Surbiton

Jeff, The Manager has now sadly left this establishment and most of the bar staff too, and taken all the delight out of visiting this place, with the exception of Diana, who's still there, with them. Good luck in your new endeavours Jeff!

The George, London Bridge

I'm afraid I agree with the recent comments. Went to this place on Tuesday lunchtime with my Parents and 9 year old daughter. Because of my daughters age we were told that we could only sit outside (Cold & heaters not on) or at the far end room (Wine Bar???) where the kitchen is located. Having ordered our food a couple of students came in who obviously new the staff on duty and engaged in kissing and hugging each other before engaging in conversation whilst they should have been cooking our meals. In the end had to wait 30 mins for coldish food. Won't be back!!!!!!

Does 'Divi' have a job? I bet if he does then he would be first out of the door when his shift finishes! Need I say more?

Broadway Bar Cafe, Tolworth

I agree with Anonymous. Unfortunatley I work in Tolworth and don't have another choice of Pub at lunchtimes. Will have to amend my New Year's resolution to not going for a drink at Lunchtime!

Crown Inn, Playhatch

Visited this Pub yesterday. Have been here several times before when visiting my Brother in nearby Caversham. Excellent food and ale. The unfortunate thing is that they are building an accomodation/B&B section next to the Pub for weary travellers. This in turn, it seems, is taking away a big part of the lovely garden....shame.

The Anchor Inn, Hartfield

What a good old English Pub should be. Great place to go for lunch after having taken the Kids to nearby "Pooh Corner" to see the original "Poohstick Bridge.

Broadway Bar Cafe, Tolworth

This place was fine when it first opened, they couldn't do enough to assist, but now the novelty has gone & certain barstaff should moderate their language!
