The Royal Oak, Borough

Too many Ales for my liking and not enough lagers. I guess most of the beer geeks on BITE get aroused by ales so I can see why the reviews are so high. Food is very good though.

The Swan, Bank

Yeah normal city types going to your normal city type of pub. I used to go there for WC football matches during the day. Not bad - will be a lot better come the smoking ban. A few office type tarts show up Thurs, Fri night looking for a few free drinks and a random pump. A lot better than the Swan in Stockwell!!

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

Why does the pub get such good reviews. I just don't understand how it is different from most other average pubs?

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

Great pub. Anonymous sounds like a right clown!!

The Harp, Covent Garden

JohnBoner - probably was there about 9 30pm onwards

Mulligans of Mayfair, Mayfair

Top Irish bar - full of Mayfair slappers. Real handful with all the munters around but you got to take the good, the bad and the ugly.

The Harp, Covent Garden

I am not sure what the fuss is about. Checked this out and thought is was absolutely crap. Where's the duke box? But my main concern is with the extremely poor service. The attitude of some of the staff there is if you are asking them for a pint of their blood instead of their finest flat and warm lager!!

The Swan, Stockwell

This pub is infested with ugly antipodean tarts - mainly burly kiwi ladies. Not sure what is Irish about it except for the drunkeness. A lot of the people are there for one purpose only - meet someone to exchange bodily fluids with at the end of the night. The toilets had more shagging going on than a brothel!

The Woolpack, London Bridge

Absolutely awful pub for the council estate types that live around the area!

The Woolpack, London Bridge

Much better pub than the Garrison which is not really a pub but more a restaurant come expensive wine bar. Since the refurb it has become much more popular. Food very good too.

The Walkabout, Embankment

Good pub for the sports. Nice in the afternoon for lunch. Decent service considering how rammed it can get. Not the best when the band etc starts as it gets to loud and it seems people aren't ready for a band that early in the evening. Never really had any problems with the bouncers but I have heard of others that have.

The Fest - Octoberfest Pub, Fulham

OK - I see citygirl is slightly irritated.

The Slug and Lettuce, Fulham

Shocking place. Good if you want to have some fun with ladies. Make sure you have the beer goggles on as some of the birds are rough.

Sketch, Mayfair

Was there last week. Was not too packed at 6 but then quickly became rammed. Great cocktails and the usually assortment of beautiful people.

Vertigo 42, City Of London

Great place, great champagne and good service. I was there a few weeks back for a work thing and we had a superb time.

Walkabout, Shepherds Bush

Got to agree with Hard_pork about the toilets and sandwiches

The Fest - Octoberfest Pub, Fulham

I went to the "Fest" pub last night - is this an abbreviation of "infested" or "infestation" as this abbreviation is wholly accurate.

It reminded me of a pub from Sydney.

The Fest - Octoberfest Pub, Fulham

Citygirl - i will check out this pub again and write an updated review.

The Hand and Marigold, Bermondsey

This seems to be a comfortable enough pub for residents of the local council estates. Otherwise you get strange looks translating to "what are you doing in my lounge?".

The Old Ship, Hammersmith

Went there in the weekend and it was pretty average. 3 for a beer for Carling (extra warm) - what a joke. Seems to be popular with antipodeans who have escaped their 3 bdrm flats shared with 9 other people. Some sleazy guys around too looking for a random pump.

The Cheshire Cheese, Tower Hill

This pub seems to have Essex office goffers downing their 2 pints before stumbling to Fenchurch St and back home. Good for football. Pool table upstairs. Usually a few rough birds getting a lot of attention. The pints are not nearly off like Wetherspoons so you don't get the squirts the next day as often!

The Fest - Octoberfest Pub, Fulham

This was a traditional German oooops I mean Aussie pub. The males generally prefer to urinate on the floor as a result you needed a snorkel to go for a leak. The bogs were overflowing so people sha t in the corner of the cubicle.

28 Mar 2006 13:50

The Redback, Acton

This is a pub for the NZ version of our chav. The roughest, most uncultured and poorest antipodeans can be found here, especially on a Sunday. I saw a girl going for a dump in a pint glass here. And the guys here are seem as if though they have not evolved from neanderthal man.

17 Mar 2006 16:41

The Warwick, Islington

this pub is completeley over-rated. the toilets were like a paddling pool last night - and you don't want to know what sort of things friends saw in the ladies toilet. but the cocktails were nice

17 Mar 2006 15:05

The Bookbinders Ale House, Oxford

This is one of the worse pubs I have been too. I am not sure what all the fuss is about.

9 Mar 2006 17:58

Walkabout, Shepherds Bush

Probably the worst pub in London. The people there are on a different planet. The main attraction is Sunday where you'll find the true slappers trying to get laid for the third night in a row. This results in an aggressive atmosphere where the guys make their mating signals by acting loud. After closing you'll see the unsuccessful punters getting into fights, vomiting, defecating and urinating etc. If you want to see the worse of the worse - then check this place out
