The Red Lion, Adderbury

We left the M40 Motorway to find a pleasant pub for a meal whilst on a journey south from Manchester. The Red Lion looked good and it was good. Three real beers on offer 20.11.11. The food was home made and good value. The staff went out of their way to be helpful about the choice of beers. I went for the Howell Brewery beer - very tasty and well kept. Easy access and parking.

The Red Lion Hotel, Flixton

The pub was knocked down and a block of flats is being built on the site. June 2011.

The Church Inn, Flixton

A very good old fashioned pub in a pleasant area of Flixton. Three real beers and a good variety of guest beers. Forthcoming guest beers are advertised in advance. Pleasant, helpful staff serve a mixture of regular local beer drinkers as well as the groups of people who come in for food. The current (22.6.2011) two meals for eight pounds is excellent value. The beer, food, and atmosphere make this a popular place to relax in. At lunch time, it is a busy village pub, so we go for our meals just after the busy period.

Stamford Arms, Bowdon

I went to a friends 60th birthday party this week. The function room was an excellent venue for a group of about eighty people and it had a good dance floor. Two real ales were available as well as lagers for the youngsters. The pub produced curry for the function too. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. The main room in the pub was large, clean and felt good. Plenty of spare seats.

Jackson's Boat, Sale

Good real ale. Landlord and Old Speckled Hen.
Friendly staff and plenty of space to sit indoors. Very popular for walkers in the summer with dozens of tables outside. Lots of space to park your bike and for children to play.
Much quieter in the winter.

The King's Ransom, Sale

Real ale is kept well and it is reliable each week.
I visit with two friends each week following our sporting activity. The staff welcome us and they start pulling three pints of our usual real ale after greeting us.
We visit in the early evening. Lots of space to sit, good food.
I disagree with previous contributer about the beer.
The pub is centrally placed in Sale and close to the tram station to get into Manchester so it does get busy later.
