The Goose on the Market, Croydon

it is the cheapest pub in Croydon which is saying something and this tells you all you need to know.

Hard to argue with £2 pints of Strongbow and Fosters among other drinks (Mon-Thursday) and it's better than drinking on the street.

Staff are friendly and do a great job in the circumstances.

The Hope, Carshalton

Fantastic - best pub in Carshalton. Exceptional, well kept beers and the new garden area really helps. I just wish it was nearer my house!

The Railway Tavern, Carshalton

Popped in last night for the first time in a couple of years - perfectly good beer as ever - choice of Pride, ESB and a Fullers autumn beer called Red something. Nice friendly staff and a decent crowd in for a Wednesday night. Nice cosy pub.

The White Lion of Mortimer, Mitcham

just like the McDonalds next door it manages to be the worst example in the chain for miles around. Fond memories for me from when I lived in Mitcham but this one has always been a bad one

The Angel, Sutton

she is T.E.S.C.O. :-)

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

on a sunny lunchtime it all comes down to whether they have the back bar open. If it's not open and the sun is out the you'll spend most of your sunny afternoon queuing at the bar. If it is open then it's a great outdoor drinking pub with perfectly kept Young's beer.

Milan Bar, Croydon

During the day Lloyds is a passable cheap pint location. The ales are cheaper than in other JDW outlets in Croydon but everything else is more expensive, especially since they dropped the SUnday-Tuesday Tuborg deal. Generally speaking the ales are not as well kept as in the George, which is only 2mins walk away, although they have had Pride as a guest which recently which has tasted amazing - and just as good as from the Spread Eagle or the Royal Standard nearby.

Still - Abbott at 1.99 is hard to resist and you can't taste any problems after the first one :-)

The Green Dragon, Croydon

on its way to becoming the best pub in Croydon - ale range is excellent and very well kept - food is good and cost effective. Lagers are impeccably served and a vase of Peroni goes down very well now and again...

Show me a better pub in central Croydon....

The Goose on the Market, Croydon

Cheapest pub in Croydon - which is some feat in a town with four JDW outlets. One of the few pubs I know in which you can't trust them to serve decent tasking lager let alone proper beer. Their recent pints of Foster's @1.49 were not worth it...

If you find yourself in here drink spirits (doubles typically from 2 inc mixer) and the food is cheap and plentiful.

The Nelson Arms, South Wimbledon/Colliers Wood

Popped in here last night as part of a mini-crawl - probably didn't see it at it's best at 10.30 on a Tuesday with only one other person (who at least resembled Murray Walker) in the pub. Hobgoblin was in good order - decor/promotional toot suggests that this is a good pub to watch rugby/sports in - probably helped by the whopping 60" plasma

Trafalgar Freehouse, South Wimbledon

nice pub this - incredibly small but real ale selection was great and Hophead perfectly kept. Had a jazz/blues trio playing which - although not my thing - added real character.

The Grove Tavern, South Wimbledon

Popped in here last night as part of a mini-crawl - quite a blokey pub but a good honest boozer given it's 'active' location. Food was great - chilli and chips was a winner - and TT's Landlord lovely...

The Kilkenny, South Wimbledon

Visited this pub last night as part of a mini-crawl - utterly superb. Immediate aroma of open fire was a good start but it was the Irish music which was the star of the show. A group of around 15-20 individuals playing and singing informally was something I have not experienced before and was superb. We left reluctantly to continue pub crawl but came back at 11 and drank until midnight listening to the live music. Superb - no real ale though...

The Angel, Sutton

Popped in their last night - early days for them I think. This pub is a bit unloved really, needs to get Sky back, sort out some food and some proper ale. It struggling by comparison with its neighbour The Prince Regent, which says it all really.

The Angel, Sutton

The Angel is back open as of 16/4/2007 - not been in their yet but I will be patronising it if only to stop it from becoming a block of flats.
