The Victoria, Camden

One of Camden's Best Kept secrets. Friendly family run pub, excellent pizzas, get's full of office workers on a Friday night but otherwise usually quiet.

Sheephaven Bay, Camden

I lived opposite here for 14 years through many different incantations, was called the Mornington Arms which was a total craphole; this is the only time it's been anything near a decent pub except for once in the late 90s - before the landlod was sent down....
Now, it's clean, pleasant, has a limited but good menu, little garden out the back, good little local. As the previous reviewer said, the bloke from the Oxford has taken over, got rid of the dealers and seedy types, and has a good pub here now.
Perhaps the rating system should have re-started when it was re-named?

Crown and Goose, Camden

I'm pretty sure the crown and goose has been saved, as it's been bought by the people who run the Liberty bar on the high street. It also seems to be back to it's best, the menu has changed and it is a bit more expensive but still the best pub in Camden by a mile.

The Saucy Kettle, Surbiton

OK, just thought I'd add my thoughts as I've recently moved into the area, and most of these comments seem very out of date.
First, i've not seen any bouncers or door charge, though I've not been on a Saturday night. Inside, it's a smart Sports Bar with a US/sports theme and lots of boxing memorabilia mounted on the walls. It has a smallish main bar and a large seated area with big wooden chairs and tables for eating. It does easily the best pub food in Surbiton in the evenings and weekends - authentic tapas for 3-6 quid a dish, which is cooked fresh - when they ran out of analucian bean and chorizo stew the chef came out and offered to cook me a chorizo, peppers and potato dish instead( it was delicious), they've got a proper chargrill so steaks etc are excellent, I love the very more-ish home made chips, the burgers really are home made ( from meat they buy and mince themselves) and there are plenty of changing specials too.
Drinks wise, this is a lager drinker's heaven, Lowenbrau, Becks, Moretti, Peroni, Sagres, San Miguel plus the usual suspects. Only 1 bitter though, Courage Best, but it's OK. If they had a draft beer or 2, I'd make this pub 10/10.Lots of spirits & shots etc, if that's what you like.
Having young children, this pub has been a lifesaver since moving into the area. Many pubs in Surbiton - The Victoria, Surbiton Flyer, for example, don't accept children at all inside, or make out like you are diseased f you actually want to eat food withy them, here the landlord and his wife can't make you more welcome.
Show lots of sport all the time on big screens but it's not rowdy, usually this place is quiet except for big games, with regular locals creating a pleasant atmosphere.
