The City Pride, Isle of Dogs

Nice enough but if it's been there since the 1920's you wouldn't know. The makeover makes it just as characterless as other modern pubs in my opinion. I stopped here for a quick pint and some food (food nothing special but would eat there again) and then headed for the North Pole for some character

The North Pole, Canary Wharf

Agree with everyone else's comments here. So good to find a normal, unpretentious pub just far enough off the beaten track to avoid most Canary Wharfers. Great pint of Pride too.

The Sun Burnt Arms, Dawlish Warren

Agree with paulb on the look of the place. They advertise as a family pub but need to make more of an effort - could start with a bit of decorating and a sprucing up of the garden to make it look more appealing.

The Welcome Inn, Dawlish Warren

Agree with other comments on the staff. Felt we were interrupting by asking for service. Unwelcome Inn. Shame 'cos the carvery was good value.

The Blackwater Stream, Broadstone

Went in for a lunchtime pint. It's a locals pub. Very surprised to see that since the last time I was in they now have a few sofas/chairs in the main bar area, presumably in an attempt to go up market? Didn't really work for me. The whole place was full of smoke and no way I'd take the family. Had that annoying thing where all of the locals sit/stand at the bar so you have to edge your way in to get a drink and hope not to upset anyone.

The Lord Wimborne, Poole

Been here a few times during the summer. Not a snob but cheap beer attracts all sorts. Walked into the bar with my 4 year old to be met by an old boy just having been glassed. Prefer coming here during the summer when it's nice to sit outside.
