The Bowl Inn, Lower Almondsbury

Have to disagree with the current rating (5/10).

This is a charming old pub in a nice location (off-track, but so what?). Ample parking.

Good real ale. Reasonable food and bar snacks. Have twice used it for a lunch venue for conference of about 35 international delegates - they loved it.

The Fox Den, Stoke Gifford

Typical chain pub. I'm sure you will be safe here, but the experience is - well - chain pub/restaurant

The Lamb Inn, Iron Acton

Nice looking place in a nice area.

Nice customers. Had been recommended by friends

A shame that I caught them on an off day (3 years ago). Sad food, sad beer and, what's the word - service?

Codrington Arms, Yate

Off the beaten track.

Clean, old ambience.

Real ale, reasonable food

The Abbotswood Inn, Yate

Not a pub of choice. Clean and reasonable by day and probably reasonable by night - but I would not try it. Modern but depressed area.

The Dog Inn and Restaurant, Old Sodbury

Clean pub, excellent ambience, well mannered customers ranging from suits, through walkers to workers.

Good well kept real ales. Huge menu from snack to 3 course. All appears to prepared to order. Never have a bad meal/snack there. Regional and reasonable prices.

My 'local' of choice.

The George Hotel, Chipping Sodbury

Looks good, clean. Can't recall what, if any, real ale they had last time I visited. Bit young and noisy for me.

Have had decent meals in the restaurant upstairs - but not tried since the last management change and the restaurant seems to change style (and management?) frequently.

The Beaufort Hunt, Chipping Sodbury

Clean pub, good range of real ales, well kept. Prices local normal.

Friendly customers (provided you don't take a regular's seat). Good ambience.

Bar snacked there once - nothing special but OK.

The Tern Inn, Chipping Sodbury

Very close to home, but would only use it to avoid drink and driving. It's clean, the customers are reasonable, never heard of trouble there. Food acceptable. Management has changed several times recently.

It just lacks the real ale (last time I was there) and atmosphere of a pub.
