The Three Mariners, Rainham

Drove past on 16th July - windows and doors have been boarded up so looks like another local has gone...

The King's Arms, Blakeney

Busy pub catering for the tourist trade, London prices though, 6.60 for 2 pints of Wherry from the cask. Food looked good especially the specials board

The Bull, Fakenham

Not sure what I think about this one - beer was good and well kept, but the pub itself seemed a bit 'clinical'. Busy with lots of twenty-somethings congregating around the bar so there was a bit of a pre-club atmosphere...

Ostrich Inn, South Creake

Nice relaxed pub which seems to focus more on the restaurant side of things. Food was good quality as was the beer - Wherry from the cask, Ansells Mild and a couple of Green King beers.

The Lamb and Lion, Westcliff on Sea

Not a bad place to pop in for a quick pint and a chat - 2 beers on pump, Maldon Gold and Adnams Broadside. Tried the Gold which was well kept.

The Blue Posts, St James's

Busy pub full of suits - good beer if you can stand the wait to get served. Four hand pumps on offer, good food especially the veggie fish and chips. 3.48 for a pint of Woodfordes Wherry though...

The Rose Inn, Rainham

Been recently taken over again I think - friendly local, quite busy for a Saturday night. Beer was Masterbrew, Spitfire and Early Bird which were well kept.

The Angel, Rainham

Not sure what has happened here - the Angel used to be a good beer guide pub but no longer! Three handpumps on offer on the last visit, Adnams and two from the Cottage brewery both of which were cloudy with some sediment. Hopefully this was just a blip and teh Angel will be back serving decent beer shortly

The Smugglers, St Margarets at Cliffe

Really good food and a good location to walk it off afterwards! Three handpumps on the bar - GK IPA, Liberation Ale and another I can't remember! Food is served either in the bar, garden or conservatory restaurant at the rear and comes in good portions at reasonable prices. Staff seem attentive.

The Railway, Rainham

Now has a sign outside stating 'we now sell Nelson Ales' so against my better judgement I ventured inside for a beer. The moment you enter you discover where the majority of Rainham's unemployable drink - this is a lesson in what happens when you have a limited gene pool, you would think that they had Super Tennants on draft...
Anyway, onto the beer - It may have been Nelson's at one point but it certainly wasn't when I got to it, tasted somewhere between mould and pipe cleaner though I may be mistaken on the latter.
The redeeming feature of this pub was the dog, a large friendly fluffy thing, however I'm not sure how long it will last if a local gets an attack of the munchies....
I'm glad I ventured in here though - it means I never have to go in again...

Lashings, Maidstone

An OK pub which is good for a late night beer and a bite to eat. Food is served in massive portions which is good value for a fiver. Beers are run-of-the-mill but they do have Old Peculiar and Hobgoblin in bottles. Sometimes Hobgoblin on handpump but not too good quality - stick with the bottles!

The King George V, Brompton

Small pub in Brompton with 4 handpumps on offer one of which is usually a mild. Slightly more expensive than others in the area but they are kept well. Large range of Belgian beers behind the bar, pizzas are great! Nice pub to go to for a quiet drink

The Bell Inn, Romney Marsh

Busy pub in the middle of nowhere but well worth seeking out. 5 handpumps on offer, with very good food and some tasty looking roast spuds on the bar! Does a good trade in Sunday lunches - worth booking in advance. Nice beer garden.

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

A must when in Sheffield, busy with a tiny bar and great food at reasonable prices and served quickly. If you can't get to the main bar, beers are chalked up next to the serving hatch.

The Devonshire Cat, Sheffield

From the outside it doesn't look like a real ale mecca and inside it looks a bit 'Litton Tree' ish, but the selection of beers here is amazing. 10(?) handpumps mainly serving local beers but also have some from further afield. A range of foreign beers available from the menu. Food is v. good. A pub not to be missed in Sheffield.

Sheffield Tap, Sheffield

Wow, what a great pub! A huge range of beer both on draft and in bottles including some rarities. A tad expensive but with this range of beer it's worth it :)

The What the Dick Inns, Rochester

Went here a couple of Sundays ago for lunch and was rather impressed. Food was cooked to order with a page of the menu given over to veggie food with a smaller area for meat / fish. Beers on offer were Courage Best or Doom Bar. Very quiet for a Sunday lunchtime.

The Concorde, Rainham

Can't fault the quality of the ale in here, Doom Bar as the house beer with 2 guest ales, recently Old Dairy Silver Top which was fantastic with prices around the 2.70 to 2.90 mark.

The Old Coffee House, Soho

Very busy on a Friday night, was lucky to get a seat. Beer range was very good - 4 from Brodies and Otley's O5, just a pity they didn't have a darker beer on as all of these were blond. Toilets need a refurb!

The Living Room, Mayfair

It's OK - rammed downstairs on a Friday night but the upstairs bar was a lot quieter. Looks nice with the fires lit but otherwise a bit 'trendy' for my liking! No Real Ale, 3.60 for a pint of Becks. Would't go out of my way to visit again.

The Ledger Building, Canary Wharf

Had a refurbishment since I last visited here and it actually looks quite good, In some of the side rooms you actually wouldn't think you were in a 'spoons! Relatively quiet on a Wednesday night, got served at the bar quickly with a decent range of real ales on offer at 2.69 a pint. Food wasn't bad and since the refurb service seems to have improved (placed in front of you rather than thrown). Probably the best pub in CW if you want a quiet drink and a chat (Friday nights may be a different case altogether though).

The Parlour Bar, Canary Wharf

Awful place - 4 a pint for (cloudy) London Pride more if you want 'premium' lagers. Barman even tried to charge me 4.40 for 2 halves - until I told him to pour them into a pint glass...
Takes ages to get served by uninterested bar staff.
There are some bad pubs in Canary Wharf but this must be one of the worst - use the Cat and Canary or Wetherspoons instead.
