The Bluu Bar, Liverpool

Now a Revolution bar. Good selection of vodkas and gets busy at the weekend. Attracts a younger crowd. Defo worth a visit if your out on the town

The Blob Shop, Liverpool

Avoid this pub, always busy with booze hounds. Smelly and dirty interior matches the drinkers

19 Feb 2009 11:01

The Richmond Tavern, Wavertree

Great pub. Usually has at least 2 guest ales on and they are in reasonable condition. A large venue that offers pub quiz and the like. Only one screen so no big sporting events. Can get really busy of an evening. Serve nice food at reasonable prices. Good local and starting point for the night.

Late licence on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.... open until 12

18 Feb 2009 11:01

Jupiters, Liverpool

Gay hangout with some average beers. Not really worth the visit

18 Feb 2009 00:25

The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool

Great selection of real ales, with guest ales changing on a regular basis. A very large pub which often shows live sports events.

Great atmosphere and well worth a visit. Can get busy at the weekends

The Circus Tavern, Manchester

Great pub, only small but good ale. Nice whisky (Monkeys Shoulder). Lots of photos on wall of famous people and a great greek guy owner.

Well worth a visit

Ye Hole in Ye Wall, Liverpool

Apparently the oldest pub in Liverpool??

Not the best small and dark and not worth making a special visit. However if you are up that way then it is worth popping in to have a half, just to say you have been. Ale not that good but a good chance of meeting one of the characters that frequent there

17 Feb 2009 17:10

Yates, Liverpool

The same bog standard stuff as other yatses. Been to one, been them all

17 Feb 2009 17:08

The Willowbank, Liverpool

Good selection of real ales on offer here. There is live sports on and outside there is an area to sit with tv.

A nice local place, with regular events such as quizzes.

Pogue Mahones, Liverpool

Great atmosphere in here,. Adequate ale and usually has entertainment at the weekend.

Well recommended

17 Feb 2009 17:05

O'Neill's, Liverpool

A generic bog standard irish pub selling over inflated ale and food.

Gets very busy at weekends and surprise suprise, expect to queue to get in on Paddy's Day

17 Feb 2009 17:04

Fall Well, Liverpool

I agree with mattbeer the place is a bit dark and it can take a while to get served. However it is right in the city centre and offers the perfect place to pop in to when out shopping our just to escape the madness of the city centre.

They have a great choice of ale and often have specials on. Food is good and reasonably priced, but again is only pub chain food. Gets very busy at weekends

17 Feb 2009 17:02

The Empire, Liverpool

A local pub in town, serves beer and some bitters. Nothing too exciting. Never really busy during the week but gets busy sometimes of a weekend. Tries to cash in on Liverpools Beatles connection by displaying tat on the walls.

17 Feb 2009 17:00

Yates's, Liverpool

Seating outside is the only positive about this venue.

The food is what you would expect from a chain pub, churned out and cheap.

The ale is also of a dubious standard. Gets very busy of a weekend and has many drinks promotions. Once you have visited one Yatses you have been to them all.

The Grapes, Mathew St, Liverpool

This pub is almost always busy due to its location on Matthew Street. The place is getting tired now and is in need of some work to bring it up to scratch. It is open late of a weekend and atrracts a variety of clientele.

The beer in here is of a below standard quality and the food is of the same standard, although the food is cheap.

They pay music very loud and have a DJ of a weekend to intice people in. I would not recommend this place to anyone

In the Albert Dock areas of the city a bit pricey for what it is. Nothing special on the beer front.

NIce surroundings and nice food

17 Feb 2009 14:14

Baa Bar, Liverpool

Bottles and Shots a speciality.

Serving in only plastic glasses due to trouble frequented by students and young people really.

The Ship Inn, St Helens

Good food and alright ale, nice decor inside.

A bit of a way from train stations but easy to get to if you have a designated driver

17 Feb 2009 14:05

The Brasserie Chalon, St Helens

Not very busy when we visited and seemed to be concentrating on doing food rather than good ale. There was the usual ale on and then Chestnut and Worthys Cream Flow.... Not a great selection.

Great City Centre location

17 Feb 2009 14:03

Beechams Bar and Brewery, St Helens

This is a great pub with a great selection of ale.

It appears to have been refurbished and would not look out of place on any trendy high street. The clientele is still the same though, choosing to drink here because of the fine ale at great prices. There where 6 different cask ales when we visited.

17 Feb 2009 14:02

Bar Java, St Helens

We tried to visit this pub and it was closed, on a Monday. Not sure if this is still trading
