The White Lion, Hampton in Arden

Yep, i got to say that
1. this pub was ruined by that damn kiwi chap who thought he was some beer expert, in actual fact kiwi, you are just fat because you eat too much, nothing else, you know nothing about beer.
2. the new (old) bloke who's back in has turned the place back into a pub, and although old hooky ain't my favourite, he is doing a damned good job and i am happy to go in here for a beer. well done to the landlord.

The Brasshouse, Birmingham

this place is about the best place to get a good pint on broad street. having said that you have to get passed the bouncers in the evening when the punters are mostly old and west indian. but you should make the effort to get in cause there is never any trouble and everyone in here has a good time.

The Digby, Water Orton

i like this place. pedigree on draft (not the new cream flow bunk) very good quality. excellent for meals, really top drawer food. has the footy on too on a sunday etc but not full of hooligans or posh nobs. good crowd.

The Blue Bell Cider House, Hockley Heath

What a hole
Dirty Glasses, saw a bird taking a piss out of the toilet window one night!
total dump, beer is crap, poor service, generally shit.
good selection of scratchings though.

The Royal Oak, Kenilworth

Real pub, top effort to keep it that way. I have occasionally had a poor pint and there has been no problem getting it changed. Usually the beer is top notch, great service, good place for darts and pool in the daytime. lets not publicise this place too loudly.

The Green Man, Kenilworth

lets face it this pub is not spectacular in any regard. in fact if you're going to walk that far down the street you might as well carry on a bit further and get a decent drink out leek wooton

The Famous Virgins and Castle, Kenilworth

interesting post from londinieres. I'm not mad on this place so much these days, the standard of the beer isn't too bad although a certain little place just down the road is alot better. However, why is there no Davenports around anymore? what happened to that stuff?
open until 12 now so thats ok

The Farcroft Hotel, Handsworth

This pub is excellent. It is absolutely massive. in the day time the bar is open, it has two pool tables and a smoking corner. Most customers during the day are retired Indians and west Indians, good crowd. In the evening bits of the rest of the pub open. Upstairs is a huge dining room where groups and societies can book to eat, or sometimes there is a disco. In addition another large room downstairs often has a disco on. Beer: M&BMild, Guiness, Stella, Strongbow, that sort of thing, not fantastic but well priced. Great place.

The Actress and Bishop, Birmingham

Really poor place. Glasses are dirty and the staff don't look that clean either. You can get a bitter but its all a bit shoddy. The people in there are pretty filthy looking student types, a few drop outs too which makes up for the students. wouldn't bother going here again.

Henry Boons, Wakefield

I'm a Midlander but on trips up to Wakefield I found the Henry Boons a very welcoming establishment. Poor choice of Lager (I think its a Fosters place) but the bitter was kept quite well and the atmosphere was very friendly. Its very convenient if you use the railway station, the pool tables aren't too expensive and they always show the football or whatever sport is on. decent place

25 Jan 2007 14:28

The Roscoe Head, Liverpool

great place got wasted in there in 2002 on a double gin, double martini rosso and double chinzano bianco with drop of angastura's bitter.

Careys, Coventry

hate this place. watch you dont get your head kicked in (from behind-the coward!).

23 Jan 2007 09:38

The Rocket, Coventry

pub is still there for sure. it is true it has a bad rep but i've not had too much bother in there. good place to get a late beer, you can def get served until 12 and i think until 2 most days, i usually go real late. always alot of filthy women about, you can get a match on pool table without it getting nasty and music is on.

23 Jan 2007 09:35

The Open Arms, Cheylesmore

best Ember Inn about. good well kept pedigree, good choice of lager and cider. never much trouble in this place, some real top totty behind the bar on occasion. quiz on wednesday i think...

23 Jan 2007 09:32

The Blacksmiths Arms, Ryton on Dunsmore

beer kept very well, cheap 50p pool table and nice snacks at lunch. used to get a few legends in from the factory on beers, alas those days are gone

23 Jan 2007 09:29

The Albany, Earlsdon

Top top top pub. this is now my number 1 in the earlsdon area. beer is well priced and well kept, had a great session on Old Empire not long ago, good atmosphere although a few students are getting in now so take a nose peg.

23 Jan 2007 09:24

The Greyhound Inn, Longford

i came in a couple of months ago for the first time and had a truely horrific pint. will make a second trip.

location is spot on, plenty of parking and secluded from passing rozzers inspections.

23 Jan 2007 09:23

Three Horseshoes Inn, Bubbenhall

This is now an ok pub. you're better off in the malts, thats a real pub

23 Jan 2007 09:20

Bear Inn, Berkswell

was once a magnificent pub but this place is a chef and brewer or some similar shitty chain now. beer is bad, rarely see a theakston's in here anymore, most probably you'll come across a 6X. just dont bother coming in if its a drink you want.

23 Jan 2007 09:18

The Whitefriars Olde Ale House, Coventry

this is one of the best pubs in town, it could be the best. the beer they choose to put on is woeful. its the kind of place that loves serving santa's little helper at x-mas. probably too tight to get any real strong beer in, never see a sneck lifetr or O.P. in here.

23 Jan 2007 09:16

The Tin Angel, Coventry

if you want to hang out with stuck up people and their stuck up hair talking about reality tv and celebrity then drop in for a chat. i think david ike got his material for his books in here. crap beer too.

18 Jan 2007 15:18

The Four Provinces, Coventry

yes, this is a dive. its getting more shabby as more students attend, but there is a corresponding increase in the safety of the pub with all these wooses aboot. beer is rubbish, it stays open late, you can always pick up an old tart and her mum if you like. better off in the albany.

18 Jan 2007 15:14

The Maudsley, Coventry

not what it was but can still get a half decent pint on occasion

18 Jan 2007 15:11

The Dolphin, Coventry

decent place, for locals mainly, take a weapon

18 Jan 2007 15:10

The Peeping Tom, Burton Green

used to great, now it ain't. dont get busy so much these days. on the plus side: now (Jan 2007) sells Ruddles County and has done for a while, it is usually kept very well. open till 11 usually, 12 on a thursday, 11.30 on fri & sat. good last chance.

18 Jan 2007 15:09

Brickmakers Arms, Berkswell

the ginger guy is called paul and lives in there. all you can say for this place is: pedigree on tap, stella too. other beers are brew, bass, strongbow, coors?! and cheap wine. has a pool table. polite place, decent crowd. best of a bad buch as far as balsall is concerned.

18 Jan 2007 15:07

Ye Olde Saracens Head, Balsall Common

was once a lovely pub, now a dog hole full of pretentious gits buying cheap crappy microwaved pub food. dont bother going. occasionally they serve pedigree, it aint that good, stella on tap.

18 Jan 2007 15:05

The Nursery Tavern, Coventry

if you like your beer flat, crap, past its sell by date, done on the cheap and generally shameful, come here. its one of those pubs i occasionally go to thinking "they must have a good pint on by now, its supposed to be a drinkers pub...?" but no, it is always crap. i am from cov and that brummie wouldn't have a clue about real ale.

18 Jan 2007 13:54

The Holyhead, Coventry

dull but sometimes useful ember inn pub. watch out for the pigs round here though if your heading home on the horse

18 Jan 2007 13:49

Aardvark, Coventry

this place is an utter dump now. all the tables and bar area are sticky to touch, the place is filthy and full of student scum bags smoking cheap cigs and swearing.they should go back to london.

18 Jan 2007 13:43

The Bull and Butcher, Corley Moor

best kept beer in coventry. abbot ale, brew XI, bass and a guest (usually Bombardier, Ruddles, Sneck Lifter, Hooky etc). only downside is the pathetic pork scratchings on offer. top top pub. a year or two ago i'd rate this pub 10, but the folk singers are gone and it sinks to a 8.
