McGlynns, Kings Cross

Nice pub, good atmosphere and attentive staff. Food is basic but tasty and with huge portions. There is a strange set up with food that I haven't quite worked out. Menus are on the table but there's a sort of cafe room at the back with different things.. I may have to investigate what that's all about. Strongbow is expensive but you can't have everything.

The Penderel's Oak, Holborn

Like this pub a lot. I like that it has little corners and hidey bits to sit in and the food, as long as you choose wisely is good. If only they could splash their fried eggs to cook the top of the yolk I'd be in heaven. As it is I avoid the veggie breakfast as I can't do the jelly on the fried eggs thing. But their cheese and pesto panini is good, as is the veg curry. Also like their cider selection, which is reasonably priced in comparison to the rest of London. Savannah Dry is my favourite.

The Queens Head, St Pancras

Gutted really and my quest to find a good local is ongoing. Nice place this, but the cider. to my taste, was horrible. They had a still cider on tap which I wouldn't like, and the fizzy one I took was almost flat. They were really helpful in suggesting another for my second pint but that was flat too. They also had no fizzy bottles so it's really not the pub for me. If you're not into fizzy cider then it'll be great for you, it's just not my thing. My quest for a local continues.

The Alma Arms, Southsea

Will avoid this pub as it has a rotten reputation.

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

Went to this pub today. Sat in a corner upstairs and listened to the whine of something or other, might have been simply the air conditioning but it was very loud and uncomfortable. Moved to the other side later and couldn't hear it which was better. Service is fine but my veggie burger was stone cold in the middle. If they can't heat up a burger there isn't much hope. Won't go back unless it's just for a drink.

The Lucas Arms, Kings Cross

I like this pub as it has nice seating and plenty of free tables when I go in of an afternoon. They've taken one of the televisions out which is good. The drink prices are great, the food prices fair but very little vegetarian choices. Tried a baked potato with cheese on two occasions and it just wasn't hot. The cheese didn't even attempt to melt it was so cold. But it's a nice pub to call in for a pint.
