The Saracens Head Inn, Symonds Yat East

I can only echo previous comments. The location is to die for. The beer I had (Hereford Pale Ale) was well kept, and a sandwich arrived in less than five minutes and was faultless. It is a bit on the dear side.

The Olde Ferrie Inne, Symonds Yat West

I tried to visit this pub three times recently, but it was closed each time. On Monday we found it was "closed all day". On Tuesday we turned up and someone told us "we shut at nine o'clock" (looks at watch, five past eight) " oh no, eight". On Wednesday, before opening, we checked the listed opening times (12-11); someone came out to help, and they asked in the pub what time they would close that night - nine (it seems there's another, smaller, list of times). Half past seven saw them locked and lights out. Make of that what you will. Zero marks, for telling fairy stories to thirsty customers.

The Angel, Manchester

On my first visit since reopening , serving at the bar was a low priority for the four staff hanging around. Beer so-so.

The Smithfield Hotel, Manchester

This pub has changed hands in the last six months or so. The new managament have taken a 'new broom' to things, and on my last visit the place was nearly empty.
