Wellesley, Waterloo

Not bad for lunch between trains. Good food, and well-kept real ale (today had Bombardier, Youngs, Old Speckled Hen, and London Pride available). The Youngs was very good. Clean facilities (make sure you find out the PIN code to get in...!!!), nice atmos, and friendly service.

The White House, Guildford

This pub is always welcoming, and the Fuller's beer is always in good nick. Nice to chat from the barman/landlord/manager from Vancouver. You never seem to get riff-raff here, so you can have a decent conversation without a load of noise or sports TV, unlike the George Abbot over the road.

The George Abbot, Guildford

Had a pint of Tongham TEA that was a bit dodgy. Pub is quite dark and gloomy inside, unlike the White House opposite.

The Red Lion, Aldershot

What a nice pub. The Red Lion has a country pub atmosphere, Real fire, Christmas decorations, and a decent pint of Doom Bar. Nothing like the review below.

The Marlborough Head, Farnham

A reasonable pint of GK IPA at 2:35 a pint (cheap for Farnham!). Staff very amicable and chatty (not bad for Farnham either!)

The Still and West, Portsmouth

Sat 15th Sept. Enjoyed Fish'n'Chips by the harbour (wrapped in paper; it was superb) with Gales HSB in great condition. Despite being busy on a fine day, the staff were efficient, friendly, service was excellent, and they wanted you to enjoy everything. Other pubs take note!

The Crown, Badshot Lea

Visit today revealed that this pub is under new management. Fullers London Pride & Chiswick in great condition, and dare I say, Landlord & Landlady far more congenial than the previous tenants. Lunchtime menu; evening meals in the pipeline. Being a small pub, The Crown has really benefitted from the smoking ban.

The Crown Inn, Oxford

Tried for lunch today. Broadside & Pride were off, so had Brakspears which wasn't great (6/10). Big disappointment was food: waited 3/4 hour, and had to collar staff as to where food was. My hot-sausage sandwich appeared as bangers'n'mash, but I ate it any way as I wasn't going to wait any longer!

Staff were fine, obviously under pressure (especially flack from starving customers...), LANDLORD start employing more staff; penny-pinching=crap service!

The Horse and Groom, Merrow

Called in for a pint at mid-day. Service was so slow (other punters fiddling about with food orders!!!) that I didnt stay for a drink. Food pubs really ought to employ more staff!

The Old Ford, North Camp

First time I've been here this century! Stopped during a rainy bike-ride. Nice welcome from the landlord & Landlady, who were very chatty. Nice dog, and the locals very friendly as well; A PROPER PUB!!!
Doom Bar in great nick, at 2.55 pint. Plenty of food on offer. Must be a good place to miss a train....

The White Lion, Aldershot

Did you know that the White Lion does off-sales of Triple fff (and visiting ales)in 4 & 8 pint quantities? Highly reccomended for those summer barbeques!

The Crown, Badshot Lea

Nipped in for a couple of pints to escape from garden centre opposite; London Pride excellent condition, Chiswick available as well. Landlord mentioned live Sunday afternoon trad/New Orleans jazz coming up on 22nd April.

The White Lion, Aldershot

Excellent Triple FFF beer. Will try Hidden next. Great atmosphere (no sports!), a pub where you can actually hold a conversation. Doesn't seem to attract the riff-raff either.

The Crown, Badshot Lea

Seem to be 2 pages for this pub on BITE site. Nice welcome in what seems to be a proper country pub. London Pride in excellent nick, chatty landlord, and no music! Heaven!

The Globe on the Lake, Alresford

Nice pub for that post-walk pint, but not too keen on the food or service. Was full of hoorays on our visit, braying for food and Pimms, so it was a bit noisy. Itchen Valley good stuff. Took steam train to Railway Arms (Triple fff) at Alton; excellent jolly.

The Railway Arms, Alton

Superb pub; had a few "Rock Lobster's" at Christmas. Left in a mellow mood. Great place to wait for a train, although I missed one!

The White Lion, Aldershot

Yippee!! Soon able to get Triple fff on my doorstep! Let us know when you re-open. Could do without the footie though; plenty of other boozers that cater for that anyway. Real ale is so much better with good conversation than all the row that seems to accompany football (yep, I can't stand the game!).
