I probably liked this place better than number 1 because there was a better choice of ales although a few local beers wouldn't go a miss. The clientele seemed friendlier and we're quite knowledgeable on there beers. The landlord made an effort to talk to us and was talking about what kind of impact the wetherspoons (that is due to be completed in the summer) would have on the local pub scene in cleethorpes. It would be a shame to see this place close but I feel a few beer festivals and a beer that could be brewed by the pub itself would help it survive. Caskales - 7 Mar 2014 11:51 |
Would agree with the last comment. The place always seems to be frequented by drunks and the beer quality is often appalling. All the brews (bar one) are from the 'global giants' ie Worthington, M&B, Hancocks etc and are served freezing cold and taste metallic for some reason. Tend to stay away from this one but pop in every now and again in the hope it has improved. It opens quite early on in the morning (8ish I think) and on que, the local characters appear......... How on earth it is in the GBG is beyond me, let alone the winner of the best pub in Cleethorpes......more than once ! yummybeer - 18 May 2011 12:17 |
dissapointed in this bar, after reading the write up in the GBG. Beer uninspiring and lack of atmosphere pwilkins - 7 Mar 2011 15:49 |
One of the best pubs for choice of ale, but mirror other comments re not that inspiring or well kept. Should be better than it is. Still, it's an unusual place and worth a visit if you're in the area. Locals are a bit 'rough' but not that rough that they make you feel unwelcome. Mothbag - 16 Jun 2010 10:50 |
Disappointed with this one. Seven beers but mostly Greene King derivatives. Wold Top Bunny's Revenge wasn't in great condition. GuideDogSaint - 3 Apr 2010 12:54 |
