A curious joint that is reminiscent of the album cover of Soft cell's 'Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret'. Now facing the hoardings for the Crossrail project, it is quite an interesting option were the beers slightly better. Meantime and Camden are run of the mill 'craft' choices as are Proper Job and Doom Bar on the ale side of things. cans of Cwtch's 'Clwb Tropicana' in the fridge saved the day. Cracking pub, once you know it's there. wizzard - 28 Aug 2013 11:17 |
Just off Charing cross road, down a grotty little side street that smells of wee and is opposite a huge building site sits the Royal George. From the outside it doesn't look very nice or look like anyone ever goes in there. But then you'd be wrong. Inside is a medium sized bar with plenty of seating serving a smashing selection of booze. The staff are like their clients, slight bohemian and quirky and they know their stuff..giving you a run down of whats best and what they like. Downstairs is a function room/extra seating that on a wednesday evening becomes the base for their 'Kare-Uke' Ukulele nights If you can get past its exterior and its location its a relaxing well stocked treat bigmeuprudeboy - 14 Jan 2011 15:35 |
Small pub located in a charmless post-war building located at the end of Goslett Yard, a short side street on the west side of Charing Cross Road. Very cramped inside, especially during the regular live music events, meaning that there is often a large crowd outside on the pavement. However, there is also a downstairs bar, so you wonder why they don't make more use of it. Two handpumps, but only one in use when I last visited (and this didn't even have the clip fixed to the handle) but this did offer a decent pint of Adnams Stout. The chalkboard outside did also proclaim that they have 22 (bottled) ciders available. rpadam - 22 May 2010 16:47 |
The beauty of this place is the location for sure. Nice staff too. darrenwool - 27 Apr 2010 10:46 |
