The Pub itself was quite nice when we got there, the beer was good, the clients all seemed friendly and talkative.

However...
This was a for a music gig in the evening on a Saturday, they had pre agreed a price up front, for a standard evenings music. The clients enjoyed it and the barman even asked us to stay on longer than planned. Then at the end, they would not pay the amount agreed, saying that not enough people had turned up (the pub hadn't advertised the music night), the barman then became both extremely rude and aggressive.

Will not be going back to this pub, and would not recommend it.

I have had two lovely evenings in this quaint little pub! Both times sat by the open fire (which was regularly tended to by the manager), good music on the surround sound and excellent service! The chef/owner advised us he would be starting up "specials evenings" in the future, a more extensive menu than their (already impressive) bar menu. We tryed the coq au vin and a starter of Ewes cheese puffs with fig jam! The food was incredible! Real top stuff! Not expected from this little oldy pub. Will definately be back! Highly reccomended for food parties!

I too winced at the prices, and I seem to recall a similar experience of thinking I'd been short-changed for a tenner, and being told it was a five, though perhaps that was somewhere else...

That would be a pity really, given the genteel surroundings and garden.

Beware race meeting times though: the clientele can be surprisingly rough in the evenings, when the travelling entourage are in the locality.
