One of the better new pubs I found on this year's trip. Friendly & talkative bar bloke, & chatty customers too. Sam Smith's OBB (2.90) was quite good, though I hardly noticed it as my entire visit was spent listening & laughing to the banter. Not as visually stunning as some other Sam Smith's pubs but attractive in its own way. Top pub. Queenslander - 12 Oct 2015 21:56 |
A perfectly decent Sam Smith's pub, a little on the quiet side but very cozy and pleasant. The usual own-brand drinks were all in good order and the service friendly and efficient. Classic old-fashioned decor and pub furniture which is always fine by me. The only real draw back to what is a very good pub that might well be a go-to place in another area, is that it is a brisk two minute walk away from The Champion which is a superior version of the same sort of thing. 3 other people in there on Sunday afternoon, so pretty empty and silent - barmaid barely looked up from her phone/magazine the whole time. Much prefer other SamSmiths "The Champion" further along the way. adamwalsh - 24 Jan 2011 14:18 |
Not bad. The range of ale was limited - being a Sam Smiths establishment that's all that was available, but it was good nevertheless. The place was busy and loud (visited during the evening). Relatively small corner pub but quite spacious inside. Nice ceiling, too!! Nothing fancy - a straight forward boozer which is what I like. Jonnysaint - 7 Jan 2011 11:13 |
Called in here yesterday as part of our Christmas crawl of 6 pubs in the area, this was by far the worst. Not impressed by anything. seemed to be an extension of the Royal Mail Canteen. Barmaid totally focussed on her newspaper. I won't be back. freezergeezer - 23 Dec 2010 12:42 |
