| One of the better new pubs I found on this year's trip. Friendly & talkative bar bloke, & chatty customers too. Sam Smith's OBB (2.90) was quite good, though I hardly noticed it as my entire visit was spent listening & laughing to the banter. | A perfectly decent Sam Smith's pub, a little on the quiet side but very cozy and pleasant. The usual own-brand drinks were all in good order and the service friendly and efficient. Classic old-fashioned decor and pub furniture which is always fine by me. The only real draw back to what is a very good pub that might well be a go-to place in another area, is that it is a brisk two minute walk away from The Champion which is a superior version of the same sort of thing. | Not bad. The range of ale was limited - being a Sam Smiths establishment that's all that was available, but it was good nevertheless. The place was busy and loud (visited during the evening). | Called in here yesterday as part of our Christmas crawl of 6 pubs in the area, this was by far the worst. Not impressed by anything. seemed to be an extension of the Royal Mail Canteen. Barmaid totally focussed on her newspaper. I won't be back. freezergeezer - 23 Dec 2010 12:42 |
