Excellent back street local with great range of beers in good condition. Would have liked more dark beers but you can't have everything!

Six beers on tap but, as is the way nowadays, all were blonde except for one - in this case, 'System of a Brown'. Approached it with some trepidation given it hails from the other side of the pond. Needn't have worried, however, as it slipped down a treat. Unremarkable bar is brought alive by the locals who all seem to know each other but are very welcoming to outsiders and have a great rapport with the bar staff. Someone started strumming a guitar at the outside table and before long a singsong was in progress. A good community pub.

So many good things to say about this pub. First thing that hits you is the rarely- used-elsewhere current beer list on a blackboard outside the pub. The choice of beers was excellent, 6 on, 5 of which were from local micro breweries and the quality was very good. We had a snack there which was scrumptious. Both the staff and customers were friendly. The landlady described the many activities that the pub puts on in an evening. As mentioned previously her son runs the Bakers Dozen brewery. When we returned to the pub before departing after our 3 day stay in Stamford his beer was on and was superb. All round, the best pub for our wishes, in Stamford and it gets a rare 9 from us.

The landlord and landlady are planning to move on to concentrate on further developing his Baker's Dozen brewery. Hopefully their replacements will maintain the same high standards and the pub will continue to thrive.

Popular locals pub with possibly Stamford's best range of ales served in great condition. Ok service.
