I am thinking of visiting Ricky tomorrow night, but will certainly avoid The F & G after Zigzag29's response to the lady's vino query! ;-(

I have just read the review that the lady wrote about my Pub, normally I treat anything on here with a pinch of salt, but there are issues with what she has said, firstly, I have sold hundreds of bottles of the said wine and it is certainly not overpriced, and I have never had one complaint, secondly if it was so awful why did you drink over half a glass before bringing it back ? I never asked for the money although I was completely unimpressed and yes you should be embarrassed, and of course the customer isn't always right.
I am sure you will enjoy the other pubs in the area, because you most certainly wont be coming back here

Having lived in Rickmansworth for over 10 years, we decided to try this pub for a change, abandoning our usual places.. They have done a good job with regards to their beer garden, which although quiet, was really well kept. However I have to say I was pretty disappointed with their cheap tasting wine sold at premium rates and surprised by their lack of customer service.
I have never once returned a glass of wine (the thought embarrasses me) but on this occassion my husband did so on my behalf as it was sour and undrinkable. On doing so, the the pub manager (I would assume) scoffed at this and stated there was nothing wrong with it and that he can't exchange a drink just becasue the customer doesn't like it! He offered an alternative glass and then asked for the money, to which my husband refused. He eventually decided to let it go without payment with the phrase 'these things are just not worth arguing over'. Unfortuntaely the follow up wine tasted just as awful.. We left pretty soon after with a bad taste in our mouths, quite literally...along with the realisation that perhaps the customer isn't always right after all! We wont be returning, there are plenty of other pubs in the area that are fantastic and have plenty of customers for a reason. Take heed!

Lovely pub since its refurbishment, great beer and a formidable raging gooner of a landlord.

As a woman I can say it's definitely alot nicer now there's more of a mixed croud coming in.

Not so sure of the bar staff though! The good looking blonde bloke was polite and helpful but the little boy and girl couple were pda-ing all over the shop, it was all I could do to not fetch up my delicious scampi and chips that I'd bought for a miniscule £6.95 - what a price!

Has anyone got that blonde guys number?

Great pub for 1 drink or a long night.
It has fresh, modern decor that brightens the place yet still has that traditional british pub feel you want.
They have plenty of places to sit and a great fire place feature in the middle of the building.

Excellent value pub grub,i'd recommend the homemade burgers in particular!
Staff were very attentive and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to work and serve there.

All in all a great little find in Rickmansworth and definitely worth a visit.
