Great traditional backstreet pub, a little out of town, but well worth the walk.
10 hand pumps on, apparently 5 are usually available:- Dark Star Hophead, Ringwood Fortyniner, Andwell Gold Muddler, Hopback Summer Lightning and "Fullers" London Pride!!!. Guest beers today are Weltons Swing Low, Weltons Broadwood Wassail, Hopback GFB, Broken Bridge Red Alert and Plain Ales Inncognito. Also Thornbridge Jaipur as a "craft" keg. Bar staff offered a taster, with a smile.
Hum of groups of people eating curry (Monday's only) and drinking, with a gas fire blazing away in the main bar.
Well worth its reputation.

Went in for the first time in years last week. Still quality. Great ale selection.

Great to see that a pub where it all about the beer can still be a viable business these days.

At the time of writing this pub has a 7.4/10. I am rather shocked by this. Fantastic range of real ales in great condition. Proper pub that's been in the Good Beer Guide for over 30 years. 9/10 for me.
