| Slightly up the hill and around the corner from the Seven Stars this tiny pub seems to be more geared towards eaters with a wooden cafe bar style interior. However the Betty Stopgs was on form and the service friendly, I bet its packed in the Summer though. Hodge1 - 7 Jan 2012 10:10 |
| Excellent food and extremely good value for money. Ian, the chef, is excellent and takes pride in his presentation. Pub is a little on the small side but outside seating is good. | Visited a few times in the Summer of 2011 and were impressed from the very start by how friendly all of the staff were to newly arrived 2 week tourists. The Betty Stogs Heligan Honey was lovely, as was the other Stogs pint on offer. The food is absolutely excellent and really good value for money. Lovely atmosphere and family/ dog friendly. The garden out the back was an unkempt bit of a mess which was a shame, but with the front seating area and the inside, this was little of a problem to us. | Living in nearby Mabe, I love coming to this pub to eat. The food is fab (The belly pork to die for!) and the staff very friendly. The comment below by StellaDrinker is wrong, I have never paid for my food up front, they are quite happy for you to run a tab, without having to leave a card or anything similar. Sitting outside on a summer's evening is lovely, as is inside on a winter's evening. From my point of view, one of the additional stars this pub gets is because its very dog friendly.
