I'd read that the licensing hours of this place are limited to 6-10. But sadly they are even more limited than that now. A sign on the door declares that this is no longer a pub. Whilst it still apparently dispenses cask ales and real cider, it is only served to residents in the B & B. So I guess the selection is much more limited, with a reduced footfall. But unfortunately we were unable to see, as the notice on the door made it quite clear that passing trade is not welcome. 1/10 as there is no longer beerintheevening unless you fancy staying in a small Cornish village a few miles from civilisation.

Thanx Ridleyman the bearer of wonderful news. Hope to get out there some time soon. I'd love it if they still allowed the old campervan to park there, will keep you updated soon all

Good news.

Pub now re-opened with new licensee and being run as a freehouse.

Still closed but the sign is still up and the windows unboarded. I live in Penzance and loved coming here for a night or two to get bladdered and get back to the van. Lovely pub and thanks to the government in helping to shut it!!

It is, literally, a crying shame this pub has been closed by the brewery (St. Austell) as it had one of the friendliest, most welcoming atmospheres of any pub I've visited in West Cornwall. The publican and his wife were warm and accommodating and the food was superb. Beers were in top form always and the odd bit of brandy on a cold evening most welcome, as was the roaring fire. It's location, midway between Penzance and St. Just, was perfect. Now it is shuttered and up for sale. I really cannot understand St. Austell's putting pure profit above good purpose in this instance. I sincerely hope someone else can take this task on and return a local landmark to its deserved glory.
