user reviews of Woolwich Equitable, Woolwich

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Woolwich Equitable is another Antic pub. This one is an impressive building in the main pedestrian square. The interior is even more impressive with high ceilings and a balcony. There is a large amount of seating on the ground floor and you can apparently get to the balcony too. As the previous reviewer has said, the ale selection is poor. Volden Session Ale & Pale Ale & Belleville Commonside Pale Ale were the 3 on. But I was happy, as they did have real cider - Gwynt y Ddraig Black Dragon & Westons Family Reserve. Meals were being served and it seems a popular place for families too. The best of the 4 Antic pubs I tried yesterday.

Decent boozer. One of Antic's better efforts. Let down by a shocking lack of beer. 6 cask lines but rarely more than 2 or 3 on. Usually Vom which is Antic's house brewery, and one of the ubiquitous beers like Doom or Pride. They had far better selection when they first opened. Last 3 visits have also seen most of the keg lines out of service too. Also charging almost double for a Doom Bar compared to the 'spoons across the square is a bit ott.

While in Woolwich and finishing my pub ticking I thought I might aswell try the newest Antic pub to open in the area in the historic Woolwich building.

Not the normal shabby Antic interior , it’s light inside and you can see the bar and the other punters…this is a tip that the Catford Constitutional Club needs to take on-board!

Rows of old cinema seating on the right and regular seats on the left hand side. Lots of features of the building left in place including the plaques in the entrance area, these are worth stopping at and have a read.

4 ales on but I opted for a couple of pints of scrumpy which was excellent…though £4.00 a pint is a bit lumpy for Woolwich as per the previous review.

Outside seating area which on the gorgeous day I visited was a great place to sit and watch the world go by.

A decent pub in a lovely building, great location opposite the station…I will be returning soon.

tried this place about six months ago when it first opened, it was early evening and fairly empty and the kitchens were not up and running yet so they weren't serving any food yet and it still smelt a bit of fresh paint, great range of beers but at £5.10 a pint pretty steep for Woolwich, with Spoons just across the green unless your with a lady or feeling really flush I'd probably choose spoons for all it's faults, I've not been back since but it always seems reasonably busy, so I'll probably give it another try at some point, Run by the Antic group and set in the massive old imposing Woolwich equitable building
