| This bar is what was until recently 'Confessions' bar and prior to that was Sara Moons. Now called 'The Peaker Blinder' it is simply trying to cash in on the hit BBC drama. However, it is making a somewhat poor effort. The place is adourned with manequins which obviously are all wearing flat caps. Signs near them warn anyone that touching will see them barred. Aside from the frankly wierd manequinns the interior isn't much different to how the place was in its previous incarnations. Beer selection - nothing special, Carling, Strongbow, Stella etc... I had a pint of Strongbow darkfruits which was refreshing enough. It is a shame that the owners haven't put more effort into the theme of the bar as the idea in principal is very good, granted it's probably in the slightly the wrong location and architectually it will never be close to Peaky Blinder styles but the interior could be significantly improved upon. Service was friendly enough although some of the natives, some of whom may have never been home since it was Sara Moons looked a bit ferral. SteveBrum - 21 Jan 2015 13:52 |
