I was going to have my work leaving do in this pub at the end of August, but having visited this pub last night I have decided against it. For a Wednesday night it was busy, probably due to the heat. But the service at the bar was truly awful. I was standing there for a good 10-15 mins. People strolled up got served before me, staff then were aware that I had been waiting as I started to speak up. Apologies apologies... blah blah blah, words they don't mean. Expensive pub, I bought a Guinness and a Corona and didn't get much change from 10. There's plenty of other bars in this area I'd advise everyone to try them before this one. gibbergabber - 26 Jul 2012 10:02 |
Benefits from having a reasonably sized garden where you can sit with your nicotine-addicted friends. The garden's the best place to be - the pub interior is soulless and noisy. Have eaten pizza there, which was perfectly acceptable. Totally agree with the previous reviewer re the lack of any decent draught ale. That's just lazy. myjlcr - 26 Sep 2011 13:56 |
I think some of the people below must have been in a different pub. However, I remember this place from when it was Ye Olde Surgeon (Gawd bless it!) and then The Pint Pot. Progress dictates that shiny, matted fabric benches should be replaced with comfy, leather sofas and dining tables, but it's still a pleasant enough environment (they must have turned the dimmer down now, Camdengirl). Would highly recommend the calzone from this lunchtime visit and the food generally is of a much higher-than-usual-London-pub standard. One thing that it would REALLY benefit from is a decent selection (or even one option) of a good real rale... ...it's the way ahead. Jonnybigbird - 28 Oct 2009 14:10 |
This is a student type bar offering standard and premium lagers in an atmosphere of loud music and chatter. There are a couple of plasma screens that were showing the videos to the aforementioned music and there is a large projector screen on the back window that was showing a muted BBC News 24 feed. I had a pint of Guinness which was ok, although it was served in a Kronenburg glass, which was the first that came to the barmaids grasp. I knocked my pint back in the smoking area which is a table and chair at the top of the fire escape stairs at the rear of the building. This is probably an ok place to go if you are a student, but those days are long gone for me now, so Ill not be returning. Strongers - 17 Jun 2009 13:16 |
