On my last visit to Oakengates many years ago, I remember thinking that the Crown and the Station make a great pair of pubs to visit. You could step out of one, cross the road and straight into the other. The Old Fighting Cocks now makes it into a great trio of pubs. This was my favourite new pub of the day. Ales were mainly from the Hop & Stagger Brewery - Golden Wonder, Shropshire Pale Ale, Triple Hop IPA, Dark Horse Mild & Bridgnorth Porter. Everard''s Tiger is another regular. Guests were Stonehenge Great Dane, Black Edge American Pale Ale & Tring Moongazing. There were also 2 real ciders - Weston''s Family Reserve & Bottle Kicking Cider Company Scrambler. The interior has a number of rooms, with an outdoor yard area at the rear. I really enjoyed my Bridgnorth Porter, which went down far too easily. I can only dreaming of living on this street!

Another decent pub a few doors up from the Station Hotel but the pubco influence (Everard's version) is noticeable giving it a bit less character than the other two. Still a decent pint and pub. Rare to have three decent pubs within a beermat's throw of each other and all selling decent brews for under £3

This is one of the best pubs in Telford. The staff are friendly, the beer excellent, there is lots of room in the main areas and the side rooms, lots to look at. The continental lagers are superb, served flawlessly in matching glassware. The bar snacks are extensive and not overpriced. If, like me, you are 45+, you will love the music that they pipe through. It's not too loud but gives a warm feel to the place.

The pub also has a cinema upstairs which is free to use (I believe), they will even lend you plates for bringing your own food. Would be a great private film night our / curry / ale evening for a few friends.

Never see anyone in there under 25, mostly older locals and visitors who appreciate the old style format and lack of modern influences. It's always got a few people in but never overly busy.

If you are every going past, call in.

Will be jointly hosting a beer festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend. Hopefully the selection of beers will be much more inspiring than the ones at the last fest in November 2012.

First time I have ever been disapointed by this pub. No real effort had been made to source new or interesting beers for their half of the joint festival with the Station down the road. An opportunity wasted to put on a display to equal the amazing range at the Station.
