I'm not sure if I was here on the same day as Snarling Mallard. But I visited here yesterday (Sunday) afternoon and did manage to get a Doom Bar served from the cask in the smaller bar. There is a good range of bottled beers and ciders too. The place was packed with people watching gaelic football. It seemed like a big game. But this is a typical pub that you'll find in Irish towns and cities and I enjoyed the atmosphere here. Decent place.

Classic style Belfast pub with two halves. Supposedly does ale but I couldn't track it down - worth a punt when in downtown Belfast.

We made the mistake of trying this establishment a bit late in the evening (9-ish or so?) Despite the good write-up and the prospect of finding some good ale, we found the place absolutely heaving on a Saturday evening, with no prospect of easily or quickly gaining a seat for the two of us. We gave up and left, almost tripping over the arriving band's equipment as we did so. Need to get to this one a lot earlier next time we visit!

This really is a boozer in the traditional sense. It has a great front bar with big screens and good grub.During the week it caters for every type of punter from barristers to brickies and at the weekend it turns into a trendy intimate club in the back room.Magic!!
