Went in for family early evening meal on a Saturday. Full range of Timothy Taylor beers on draught and Dark Mild and Ram Tam seemed okay but nothing special in terms of quality. Food good and new menu was being introduced later that night. Pub very busy.

A large pub that we visited after enjoying a value-for-money 3-course curry at the nearby Cardamon restaurant. Somehow I was expecting more for this place. The full range of Timothy Taylor beers was available - Landlord, Golden Best, Dark Mild, Ram Tam & Best Bitter. Cider was Stowford Press. Unfortunately, the pub lacked atmosphere. It is quite large and there were only 2 other patrons, unlike most of the town centre pubs. We also waited nearly 5 minutes for the barmaid to appear. The dark leather seating makes it a comfortable drinking environment. But the lack of customers made the whole experience very average.

I had problems being served last time I went. Had to change the barrel and must have been waiting for about 20 minutes before I got my pint. Also was a bit pricey.

It's a smart pub with the full array of Taylor's beers. It seems more geared up for dining but unfortunately the standard of food isn't great. We waited for over 45mins for a steak & ale pie and a basic veggie pasta. Was told it was all cooked from fresh after 30mins of waiting. Seemed to be a lot of comings and goings from the kitchen by people but not much food emerging. When ours arrived the pie was a bit overdone and the pasta cold from hanging around. Won't be going again.

I visited the Brown Cow on 27 October and ordered tagliatelle with mushrooms in a walnut and white wine sauce. I was less than impressed to have a small dish of penne pasta with a tomato sauce and cheese. They said they had no mushrooms but no-one asked me for an alternative dish and I wouldn't have picked this one. It was bland and boring, I think it was assumed I was a vegetarian. They said I could have it for half the price I had paid and then tried to short change me! I will not go back again as it was awful and I won't be recommending it to any of my friends. I've rated it for the food only, but the beer is good and the young waitress was very nice and friendly.
