I drove past the pub this morning, and it has been boarded up, so it is definitely closed now. It's a shame as I enjoyed a few of the beer festivals here.

Pub may be closed now, as the tel. no. displayed above doesn't take incoming calls.

Visited this pub on Sunday 25 Oct 05 attracted by the sign outside advertising real ales. However, felt extremely unhappy when charged 3 for two halves. When I quereied this with the lady behind the bar she told me it was 2.40 for a pint but he (the landlord I assume) had a strange policy with halves! I'd call it more than strange. I understand that this pub is being closed shortly, I wonder if the local CAMRA group is aware of this pricing policy. To me it seems grossly unfair to penalise people because they want to drink a half, after all it amounts to a 25% premium on the price of a pint.

The pub has changed, sadly for the worse, since all the good experiences people had over the last year. If I knew about this site then I would have been recommending the pub aswell.

I visited with two mates yesterday and found the attitude of the female behind the bar less than friendly toward my friend who was buying the round in. There were 20 "jugs" (handled glasses) at the bar but she flatly refused to let us have our beer in them saying they were "for the regulars only". I asked where their names were on the glasses as they all looked the same to me, but nothing was said. In the end my friend felt so embarrassed he got us halves instead so we could head to another pub quickly.

Closure is due on November 5th and, given our experience here compared to Waltham Abbey's remaining ale pubs, I can't bring myself to feel as sad as I once would.
