| Sunday, near Castle Howard in Summer. A formula for a busy pub. Luckily, Euro football and the poor English summer came to our rescue. We had a couple of pints in the bar (watching the football) then had no problem getting a table in the dining room. Choice of hand-pulled beers - I tried the Black Sheep which I usually avoid due to inconsistency. This time it was fine. Food served quickly ( we were the first to order after all) by friendly staff. I had the Steak Pie which I must say was only about average. The freshly made chips and (not over boiled) veg certainly made up for it.
