Amazing building, bit like stepping back into the 1950's with hotel guests sipping G & T's. Beer was good thouhgh and not overly expensive for a posh hotel.

Decent pint of Adnam's Broadside and the staff were pleasant enough. Might not have resented the price so much had the York Bar not been quite so grubby and scruffy - could do with some elbow grease.

Agree with Rocky53 and Number11. Nothing much has changed; beers still expensive and the building an absolute gem. beers were Wherry and Adnams and a pale from micro Stoney Ford which was a tad on the warm side as I guess most persons in there were wine and G&T

Three real ales on handpump - two of which I tried and were well-kept. Price of a pint was outrageous at over £4, but this is more than compensated for by a generous helping of complementary nibbles. Lovely historic bar with sumptuous leather armchairs, and no riff-raff or tattoos in sight. Visit this place for the historic experience if nothing else.

Fantastic building with many rooms including dining rooms, bars, lounges and courtyards. Very busy on a Saturday afternoon with visitors taking afternoon tea. 3 Real ales in the bar including a blonde from Nene Valley. Beer fine but probably the most expensive beer in Stamford. Have a credit card with you if you wish to sample from the wine list.
