| A curate's egg. The ale was well kept and local independents (Wolf, Moongazer) were much in evidence. Pleasant inside if slightly Farrow & Ball with a generally polite, efficient service. The food quality, however, was extremely patchy, for example, fish done very well but vegetarian astonishingly badly. Ultimately does not adequately meet the aspirations it creates through price and positioning because of errors of judgement in the kitchen and a tendency to rhetoricise on the menus. | A truly beautiful pub, very friendly and welcoming (even to our crazy spaniel). Visited on a midweek lunchtime and it was quiet but the menu looked excellent and we were told they were fully booked for meals that evening. The Ale was perfect and the pub spotless, oh, and forget peanuts in a bowl on the bar, here they have Liquorice Allsorts,and lots of them. 3konaowner - 17 Jun 2011 21:28 |
