please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Large pub with 3 rooms. The largest room was a lounge with all tables set for Sunday lunch. There is also a small bar, complete with pool table and a corner room, also for diners, separated from the bar by some swing doors. Two ales are served on gravity - Greene King London Glory & Thwaites Nutty Black on our Sunday lunchtime visit. A much better pub than the current rating of 2.5/10 suggests.

I'd heard great reports about this pub, but after finally checking this place out it seems I've missed the boat (or paddle steamer).

One substandard ale on, and sky sports blasting out. That seems to be the order of the day here now. Disappointing.

The Waverly - as a vistor to the Isle of Wight, I've been travelling past this pub on the bus for the last ten years on an annual basis. Never set foot inside until this year. Myself and friends felt it about time we checked out the supposed range of ales.
The interior is so so. A nice large bar - disappointing however when it turned out the only ale available was 'Spitfire'. We settled for a pint each of this. Neither good nor bad. Well, heading more bad. Not the best I've tasted. Being a Saturday, football was on all over. Handy for the walk from our bus and the better pubs in the heart of Newport, I won't go out of my way to return soon. Disappointing seeing as though it held a 'mysticism' for myself and the gang all these years. Like waiting for a fancy present at Christmas , unwrapping it to find a sub-standard version bought from 'Pound Land'.
