P.S Was happy to rate this pub an 8 taking its 'score' from 1.2 up to 2.6.

Make what you will of that but a cautionary note to readers, it might be prudent to treat 'one post' posters with a little caution

Had a very enjoyable meal at the Wheel last night.

Massive plate of steak pie plus chips with fresh vegetables - limited menu (8 choices approximately) but something for everyone and food cooked to order.

Landlord and waitress were friendly - would return when in the area. Don't know how long they have been here but my experiences did not reflect those encountered in April by previous poster.

Ruined my nan and grandad's golden anniversary. 50 years of marriage is a rarity nowadays. So it was upsetting to hear that when they travelled to the resturant for their celebrartions they found it to be shut!
My grandparents went back home where my nan rang the resturant and were offered an evening meal instead which they couldn't attend due to my Grandads illness!
I am deeply hurt to know that my grandparents didn't spend their day how they wished! I decided to ring the resturant and was rudely shot down and basically told to be quiet. On top of this asked my age (does it matter?! Added, I'm 25 with 11 years in catering from kitchen to managing, bottom line, I'm not oblivious to the way a restaurant is ran) after this was told to get to the point! I don't consider my self rude, so was taken a back by this. Started talking again and found out I had been passed on to the the waitress who promptly called me snotty?! Their rudeness wasn't even in context to what I was saying, I wasn't being rude. I want as many people to know they ruined a sweet couples 50th anniversary that they will never see again. They don't deserve this pub. If I could put a negative rating, I would.

lovely, lovely pub/restaurant!! Went there once 4 sunday lunch - do about 4 choices of meat - beef, 1/2 chicken, gammon & pork. they also do 4 settings - 12, 2, 4 & 6pm!! We went at 4pm & everything was freshly cooked - absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!! I went out for a ''fag'' & chatted to the landlord who told me that the garden/kids area/smoking area was all built by the locals - need I say more??? Must, must, must visit!!
