Refurbished at considerable cost since the last review and now looks much more like a classy hotel than the slightly shabby mishmash that it once was. The Ludlow Best was in fine order on Boxing Day and the restaurant food was equally as good. paul_d102 - 29 Dec 2021 12:06 |
Discovered really good selection of ales here. Ludlow Brewery Best and Stairway, Hobsons Twisted Spire and Old Prickly. Well kept. Service was also good. Taster and advice given. BigPaul65 - 8 Sep 2016 19:23 |
Went for a drink in what is obviously a newly-fitted bar in an ancient hotel. Three real ales on offer from the Ludlow stable: Best, Boiling Well and Old Prickly. Don't usually like blonde beers but the last-named was uncharacteristically sweet and very palatable. The barmaid was very polite but reminded me of nothing so much as a hotel receptionist in her starchy efficiency. This impression was enhanced by the large couches that would not have been out of place in a hotel foyer. So, nothing wrong with it but I prefer earthier surroundings. For beer, quite simply one of the best. Staff attentive and helpful. PepeLePlume - 10 May 2015 06:57 |
Having seen all the recent activity on here, it was an ideal opportunity to have a look yesterday whist visiting Ludlow for the Spring Festival. What is most annoying is the pathetic attempts being made recently by some to manipulate the system, especially when it's quite clear that they've never been! Stop being idiots. Decent enough bar (yer it's a hotel, so what get over it!), the barman was very helpful and attentive - even offered a free taste of the ale so I could make a choice! Also offered an ale bat 3x1/3 pint. Great to see a relaxed atmosphere - no tv or thumping music just a good choice of well kept REAL ALE! The food was excellent - the quality of the meat a real surprise - delicious. Just wish I had eaten less through the day so I could have sampled more on the menu! Well done folks. Word of advice to some people on here, visit a place before you post a comment, otherwise keep quiet. boozyfi - 10 May 2015 06:26 |
