user reviews of the Anchor Inn, Friskney

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

As the organisor of a motorcycle rally weekend in October, I shortlisted The Anchor as a possible venue. Making the final decision to hold the event at this pub was the best decision I made.

The owners and staff at The Anchor offered hospitality which was second to none with reasonable priced drinks, excellent value for money food including breakfasts, supplied a band on the Saturday night, had free tea and coffee on tap all weekend for us to help ourselves too, and allowed us to camp free of charge.

The pub is very rural and with pubs closing at a rate of about 25 a week in this country it's nice to see a pub catering for the locals whilst branching out to a specific clientele, namely bikers, to ensure their survival. The locals mixed well with us over the weekend and were equally as welcoming.

The pub itself is fairly small but has a function room available for private hire, live music on Saturday nights at no cost to the customers, and one of the best smoking areas I have come across. A large covered patio with numerous sofas to sit on. There's a patio heater, and being as we were camping in October there were even blankets available to keep warm.

I cannot praise this pub enough and as it's only 40 mins ride from me I plan on spending quite a bit of time up there at weekends in 2012. Customers are welcome to camp in the garden so if you travel and want a few beers just take your tent along, although may be best to phone them first in case there's a bike rally planned.

There were 90 of us at the weekend I organised and all were complimentary of the pub. As for next year, I've already booked again for out 2012 Rally.
