The more I visit Hunstanton, the fonder I am of this quirky place... sometimes bawdy, sometimes genteel... love the fact it faces west on the east coast!! I'll be honest, I was looking for a pub in Hunstanton, and passed the Wash and Tope (which looked fine), only to end up in The 'Old Marine bar', literally a stones throw away.... As this isn't currently on BITE, I'll leave a comment here for the thirsty people in need of refreshment. The old marine is lovely. We actually sat outside on a stunning November day. The pub inside was immediately warm and welcoming.. Friendly staff, busy and food looked great.. marked down only by the fact they only had Doom bar...

A return visit recently. This pub has just changed hands (again) but the omens seem good. 3 real ales on - the Cottage Sterling Pale, from Somerset I believe, was excellent. There is still scope for improvement, but this could be worth watching.

Amazingly, I have been going to this pub since 1958! So have seen many of the changes, over the years, took my wife for a meal on her birthday there in September, what a lot of memories, and changes over the years, would be nice if the owners could rename it to its pre 1967 name of The Railway Hotel, always visit here every time I am in Hunstanton, it qualifies as my longest known pub jointly with the Waterside Bar, ex Three in One ...though not been there since 2011, we had a nice inexpensive meal for two .....

On a recent visit last week they had Bath ales - Gem, Moorhouse - Blond witch, Roosters - Yankee and Brains - SA Gold. All were tried and were in fine fettle. DOGS ALLOWED.

This pub is under new management, according to the sign outside, which would explain why it's no longer in the GBG. Only one beer on, London Pride, which was well kept. The menu looked good, and the new people seemed friendly enough. A bit of a scruffy place though - a top priority should be a new carpet!
