Decent place. Feels more like a Beefeater family restaurant than a proper pub - at busy times you are met at the door and guided to a table, but it does have character and charm, serves two proper beers, and has some history as a sailor's pub. We liked it. Great for a family looking for a good value lunch while visiting the Dockyards.

Good friendly pub, serves 2 ales even though the pub has 4 casks, but thats not too bad.

Re visit - still the same character and good landlord but prices too dear when compared with the Admiral Drake just across the way I am afraid.

A lively friday night atmosphere with good music and was pretty busy so was quite shocked when they rang last orders @ 1045pm! Navy appeared to get a 45% discount on their drinks which luckily they gave me without asking, although without the discount drinks prices seemed to be generally 45%higher than other pubs!! 7/10

This pub hasnt changed much in 30 years. thats not a bad thing, its hard to find tucked away behind the ferry port/whale island but if you want to visit a Portsmouth boozer and not worry about the carpets - give it a go!
