Very decent pub on the A12. Adnams Broadside was very decent, service was very good.
Food was also very good. A very decent hostelry.

Returned here again, and the food is even better! Beer range sadly now limited to Adnams range. Can't understand why more people are not using this pub as the food is amazing and also very cheap. I can't wait to eat here again.

Something must be wrong with The Plough. I called there last Sunday lunchtime(Jan. 30th) and found the place completely empty. My wife and me were the only customers. Why?

We stayed here as part of a very cheap Adnams package deal. I can now understand why the deal was on - The Plough is a pub in need of some punters! I must preface any criticism by saying the staff were very attentive and quick to put things right. Being an Adnams pub, Bitter, Gunhill and Yuletide were on offer (3 other clips turned round). The Gunhill was unfortunately vinegary, indicating a very very stale beer. Not enough custom to support 3 ales being on? However it was swapped immediately for the Yuletide which was fresh and tasty. There is a large bar area and adjoining restaurant. We ate in the bar as the restaurant area had not been set up becuase it was so quiet. In fact only two other people ate that evening, and only 2 others came in for a drink. The place felt very empty. The dinner was fine but not great. No more eating customers were expected as the kitchen closed early. The promised cooked breakfast became a bacon butty due to lack of eggs. But it was a good bacon butty! Our room was large but tired round the edges, tiles off in the bathroom and dirty skirting. Essentially the place needs some TLC and some more customers, and it could be fine.

The food is superb in here. Only a short walk from Wangford village. Good to see a guest beer on tap, much as I like Adnams, its good to have a choice.
