Ahir is such a fantastic restaurant/ bar, every time Im there I just love to sit and sock up the atmosphere. It is decorated with amazing objects from all over the world which always keeps me fascinated. They have the largest and by far the most stunning painting I have ever seen in a restaurant. As you walk through the door you feel like you have walked into another country; this place really has such a great vibe and energy to it like nothing Ive experienced so far.

I have started coming to their events and was blown away by the diversity of different cultures and nationalities they cater to. So far I have joined in with the salsa classes and watched their belly dancing shows, which I have to highlight where the best I have seen. They also hold polish and Slovak parties and recently on Friday nights they have live entertainment in the form of new and upcoming bands. Every Friday and Saturday night they have a DJ playing the latest music and a fantastic new flavoured vodka and cocktail bar in the back. Their flavoured cocktails are amazing for the price they charge and well worth every penny.

I have to say Ahir Lorenzos is a lovely cultural place to spend time in. This place serves food, drink has the best atmosphere and is a great place to have a birthday party or just to go out on a weekend. If you dont believe me, experience it for yourselves you wont regret it!

Im not sure whether this place is a bar or a restaurant and after asking the apathetic Eastern European barmaid I was even more confused. I asked if they showed Sky Sports and Setanta and she replied We show football. There was football on, but it was Spanish football shown on an Arab channel, so Im still none the wiser. I asked if the place was Turkish or maybe Moroccan and she replied It is multicultural. There was a selection of premium lagers on draught and the ordering of my pint was the last interaction I had with the barmaid as I felt like I was wasting my time talking to the queen of tartness.

The venue is split into three rooms with the front and back rooms having a bar, plasma screen and tables to sit at. The central room has some small Mediterranean couches that line a dance floor that has some bongos set up next to it and a DJ booth. The whole venue is decorated in a Mediterranean/African hut style with masks and tribal paraphernalia overwhelming the place. Its a shame about the silver extractor fan running across the ceiling and the signs on every available wall space reminding patrons that they are on camera.

I spotted some signs up outside, near the limited seating area, advertising belly dancing nights for 5 on the first Thursday of every month and there were also some upcoming Polish parties Maybe the barmaid was correct when she said multicultural! I have a feeling that this place caters for a lot of private parties and turns into some sort of club in the evenings, but this is just a feeling that I got from the surroundings.

Id imagine this place being an ok place to go with some friends for a birthday party or some other celebration, but I dont think that I would go in on the spur of the moment again.
