The better of the two pubs we tried in Petworth, this one had a few more locals. The entrance is up a couple of steps directly from the road - no pavements here. There are fake casks behind the bar. But the beer is dispensed from handpulls. The selection for my visit was Dark Star American Pale Ale & Partridge & Langham Best Bitter. The real cider was Addlestones. Roast potatoes and parsnips were available on plates at the bar, presumably left over from Sunday lunch. But there were too many people hogging the bar for me to avail myself of one.

A great job on the refurb- with a range of seating areas.
3 beers ,all local, and the one I tried was in good condition, Arundel gold, nothing really exciting or adventours there !

Long wine list with lots available by the glass, but a limited dull menu, and on a laminated card.Nothing very seasonal on, ie no game, despite this menu calling itself ' Autumn'.Maybe someone should remind them that Autumn is game season, and readily available in the area !
Bit of a dog fest- with it would seem ok, for dogs to be running around in the bar area......no H & S here......
Ok for a drink- eat else where,

They have done a wonderful job in refurbishing this pub recently, and it now looks far more appealing than it did previously. We have been there twice now since the refurbishment and both times it was very good, prompt service.

Glad to see the post above about the children, nice to know some pubs don't tolerate loud kids! The manager is obviously experienced as he handled some slightly tipsy guys who came in with tact and politeness but firmly. Food was excellent, and our Australian guests really liked the pub. The garden patio area is nice to sit in and the waitresses were helpful in moving us indoors when it started to rain, carry our drinks and food to a new table indoors for us.

Over all a nice helpful, pub with good food and drink and a nice atmosphere Recommended.

All I can say "onlythered" is great work work by the pub.

It's a pub for adults, take your brats to a cafe and leave the pubs as a oasis from the screaming hordes.

Do not take children to this pub; they were very sniffy and asked my friends to make their children keep their noise down - they really were not very noisy. I found this strange as there were very few people in the pub and it was a Thursday after lunch - not late on a Friday or Saturday.
