| My bed for the night as all the hotels in Telford were full, says it's open all day but the doors were firmly shut when I arrived at 3.45 pm. It had a make over in 2018, the rooms are very nice but it didn't work in the pub which wasn't helped by four children using it as a playground. | Large, cavernous Georgian hotel that once was visited by royalty but would be better suited nowadays as a Wetherspoon pub. At least if Mr Martin did get his hands on this place, there might be more than a dozen people inside. The Three Tuns XXX wasn't on so it was a pint of Timothy Taylor Boltmaker for me (which was reasonable) rather than the Butty Bach. | Amazing that the pub with the best spot in Ironbridge, right opposite the bridge, is so ordinary. The night I went in there the beer was ok, but the place smelt like a deep fat fryer and the only other clientelle were, well, grubby is probably the best word to describe them. | It is such a shame about this pub. OK now they do a decent cask ale but the place is full of chav and chavettes climbing over the furniture on a Saturday evening - not a pleasant place to be. Stopped for 1 and left. Great location, shame about the standards! stevane - 11 Feb 2010 15:43 |
